That may be true, BUT, why do we(the world) have 'AD' & more importantly, 'BC'? The BC/AD system was first used by monk Dionysius Exiguus in 553, so really has no bearing whatsoever

Not any more. I am now a non-believer. Some years ago I had the opportunity to study the origins of the development of Christianity, right back to the 1st century AD and how, and by whom, the testaments were "written". I had no idea before I did this that his name wasn't Jesus at all, but Y'shua. They weren't actually penned by the Disciples, but by people who knew people who had heard stories. Introduce politics, and the game of "fairy whispers" comes to mind. Kings quickly realised that a subservient people being promised salvation in an afterlife, provided they complied in this, gave them an easy way to rule. That's not to say there isn't much value in the basic tenets of the Christian message. Loving one another, helping the poor and needy, and turning the other cheek when affronted is a good way for any society to operate. It's just such a pity that so many branches of Christianity don't actually practice it. Kinda like Islam !!

The most prominent disciple, Peter, wrote two of the New Testament letters, and Jesus's half brothers Jude and James wrote two more. Hebrews would indeed call Jesus Y'shua...a variant of Joshua, not far of Hoseah. I guess Jesus is a latinised or even anglicised version of the same. In answer to the OP, I base my life on the teachings of the risen Jesus Christ of history. Which means I am gutted that our semi is on Sunday afternoon.

I think the event of crucifixion happened, and also the so called resurrection. But maybe not as elaborately as angels descending etc. They are written about at a time when literate people were few. So the written word would have been passed on by those who could only give their version of the facts. Which, as we all know, are not always the actual facts, but embellished with imagination.

Plus an enjoyment of chocolate. Many people are more cultural than practicing Christians for many reasons. Paganism doesn't require the worship of a god and many religions around the world incorporated its rituals as a way of soft power in spreading their messages.

Culture changes all the time, hence the inclusion, or mixing if you prefer, of Paganism and Christianity. And now the modern culture of Chocolotism.
