Personally I would just swap Eze straight in for Gallagher. He is our best passer of the ball and if we have any chance of winning we need some creativity. If Olise is not fit enough to start then we definitely need to start Eze. Sclupp was probably our best player against Leicester, but McArthur works harder and is better on the ball. A tough call that one. The biggest decision could be who replaces Mitchell if he's injured. His reaction to being taken off suggests it isn't serious, but you never know. Personally I'd put Schlupp there as he's quick, left footed and good going forward. Ward just looks awkward out left and is too slow to be going forward.

Chelsea are inconsistent at the moment and have a huge game against Madrid midweek (which will hopefully go to extra time and penalties!) We need to come out like we did at Arsenal and Leicester did to us and just don't give them a second's peace.

Exactly right, all of it.

Surely, what we'll really need is an open top one!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

One of the things to remember is there are 5 subs allowed in the cup. I think this in the past would be a disadvantage but we have people like Hughes, Eduoard , Benteke, Ward and McCarthur ( if he does not start ) to come on and change the game. Same team as Leicester for me with Eze coming in for Gallagher.
Loftus Cheek was very good against Southampton playing at right wing back so Mitchell hopefully overcoming his calf injury is going to be pivotal to our chances. I would favour Schlupp at left back rather than Ward should Mitchell not make it.

Vieira favours 4-3-3, and I think he will start cautiously, so...

Butland
Clyne Guehi Andersen Mitchell
McArthur Kouyate Schlupp
Ayew Mateta Zaha

I think without Gallagher the midfield looks lacking. There should be game time for Eze and Olise.

Hope we dont start too cautiously we need to give them the arsenal treatment and not let them get going. I'd agree with your selection apart from Butland. And then Olise for Ayew, Hughes for Schlupp and Tekkers maybe for Mateta
Hope we dont start cautiously

I think this could be a good line-up. Id love to hear your ideas.

Seems a sensible idea to switch from a formation which is working tremendously well to one we've never tried before for the biggest game of the season. FFS.

---------------VG-------------------
Clyne - Guehi - Andersen - Mitchell
-------------Kouyate----------------
-------Hughes--------Schlupp--------
Ayew---------Mateta-----------Wilf

If Mitchell is crocked, I'd move Schlupp into LB and bring Jimmy Mac into CM. Sorry to say that in my opinion that Adaramola lad looked out of his depth against Stoke (hope to be proved wrong over time) and Wardy's legs have gone, so no other option at LB than Schluppy.

Your sarcasm is noted and possibly correct. Except I would argue that the front three have never been settled and the players available offer a lot of options. It seems some of the top clubs play three at the back very effectively with midfielders adding extra support in attack and tracking back in defence - something I think Milla would be good at. And he can score free kicks and take penalties. Having said that your line-up looks very sensible.

Yes, i think you have it spot on, it is so important Olise and Mitchell are fit, Sclupp at LB, sensible, and McArthur in CM, Please, Please, Please Olise be fit and start

Hopefully Eze and Hughes start and give the midfield some creativity. Would rather see Adarmola as stand-in for Mitchell than Ward or Schlupp.
And cross fingers that Olise is ready for 90 minutes.

Is there any update on Olise's fitness? There were some photos on the Palace Facebook page yesterday of training and I couldn't see any of him.

**********Butland***********
Ward*Andersen*Guehi*Mitchell
****Kouyate******Schlupp*****
***********Hughes************
**Ayew**************Wilf****
**********Mateta*************

Guaita, Clyne, Tomkins, Milivojevic, McArthur (maybe in place of Hughes)
Olise, Eze, Edouard, Benteke

This is what I expect if all the players are fit.

Not the best selection but against teams like Chelsea it's not the best players that matter work horses are very important.
