Would it be overly optimistic to suggest that, presently, our best players just might not be rushing to the door to leave? Yes, if Man City, Liverpool, or Chelsea come in for one of them, they will go. Maybe Man Utd., Arsenal, and Spurs too. But I suspect the days of losing out to the likes of West Ham, Everton, and even Newcastle in the transfer market may be over.

Vieira must now be among the manager's players most want to play for. Our crowd is legendary. As said so often before, we're in London. It's so obvious that both the club and the team has a smile on its face. And this season, suddenly, playing for Palace is no longer a barrier to getting an England cap which must make a big difference to those with ambition.

The word "revolution" is overused in life but the past nine months, I am starting to think, haven't been far short of just that at Palace. Twelve months ago, Dougie and Parish were getting a fair amount of criticism here for allowing so many contracts to run down at the same time due to the perceived risk involved. I said at the time I thought it was a masterstroke and, it turns out, what they'd done was set the club up for long-term success.

Right now, the future couldn't look rosier.

Agree that the current squad are displaying qualities that other clubs will surely be interested in but with PV in charge I believe many are more than willing to stay with the club on this journey we’ve started this season

This is a good point. But players moving on is a reality for us. We’ve been saying it ourselves anyway. Buy players from the championship and/or with resale value. There’s at least 4 or 5 or more that fit that description so it’s not going to be a complete surprise. It’s the way it is. Just need our recruitment to continue to succeed, like Leicester and Southampton have.

If we can win that cup, I feel we're far less likely to lose players to the glory clubs. Because we'd become one! Top players want trophies.
Chelsea are looking a bit shell-shocked now, never a better time to smash em!

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

We're in a good place presently, but have to acknowledge a certain amount of good fortune.
The summer showed every sign of chaos with Nuno and Ferve turning us down and Lampard either rejecting an approach or giving a poor interview (depending upon which account you believe).
Vieira was at best fourth choice, but fortunately appears the perfect fit and he did not seem concerned he was low in the pecking order.
Now Nuno and Ferve are nowhere to be seen and Lampard is struggling.
The moral of the story I suppose is that fortune does play a part in football.

Like I say to Hrolf, we scrap on the news threads, but on football I wholly agree with this statement.

That team that finished 3rd was really very good and the league position did not lie. But I think this one is actually better. The league position this time does lie as we are where are are because of errors while the club transitioned.

They were saying the same about Potter not that long ago. It's Piers Morgan and the Sun!

It’s just filling space. According to different articles we’re losing Mitchell, Olise, Eze, Zaha, Guehi and Vieira. The fact we might not to let any of them go, or they might not want to leave, is unimportant.
