Tbh only some of it may have been stolen but I thought it was being investigated atm. Some could well have actually been spent for your benefit but that's not important really ! Well, you have just admitted only" some" of the 47 thousand million may have been stolen by the pm and his friends in gov- I wouldn"t mind "some" of 47 thousand million,it"s taken a while, but i"m sensing progress mate, the proverbial penny is finally dropping- well done mate, well done!

The former Foreign Secretary was directly involved in the case and will have been privy to intelligence, information and material that will never reach the public domain. He certainly knows an awful lot more about the true facts of what happened and the circumstances than you or I ever will and I imagine significant elements of the information relating to this case will remain undisclosed.

He certainly does, and what happened to the ppe money, how a dog food canning company turned in to "dog food canning and ppe are us" overnight, the 36 million track and trace cash, and parties galore, but lets just say he"s doing a great job!

The British Government(s) always knew it was about this (the contract for tanks). Why they just didn't pay up what they owed, rather than waste 6 years of someone's life is beyond me. Pleased it's over for her, but disgusted by the way it was handled by UK Government. Edited by Forest Hillbilly (17 Mar 2022 8.00am)

Maybe I am getting our overseas debts mixed up ( which is quite probable) but I seem to remember that historically there was a long standing disagreement about how the repayment monies could be spent - which was made more challenging by sanctions being enforced. Originally posted by Phil’s Barber

Pleased it's over for her, but disgusted by the way it was handled by UK Government. Before the Iranian revolution the Shah ordered a load of weapons from the UK and paid £400m up front. Before we could deliver them he was overthrown then you had the American hostage crisis and sanctions which are still in force today. There was never any dispute as to who owned the money (Iran) but this has dragged on through various Conservative and Labour governments. My guess is that the Iranians decided to force our hand by taking hostages and we did not want to be seen to giving in. Iran is further complicated in that there are 3 power groups, the Ayatollahs, the Revolutionary Guard, and the elected president and Parliament. They all have their own agendas and frequently work against each other. I'm glad that she has been released but this was geopolitics. It suits us and the Americans to start being nice to Iran as we want their oil. The Iranians need to sell their oil to get their economy going, and so the dance continues.
