Brexit, Covid, Ukraine.

These events were and still are devastating for many.

But , there's always some lovely people out there making shed-loads of cash £££££, whatever the crisis.

Glass half full Forest, glass half full!

listened to radio 4 this morning. They had several callers complaining about the cost of living, and specifically fuel prices.
Electric and gas has gone up, around 30-40%. Fuel prices have hit those living in rural areas hardest, where houses are not on the national grid. They rely on fuel/oil for heating and poor public transport tends to make people more reliant on having their own car.
One woman caller said her electric bills were now over £120 a month and she had to drive her kids to school, because there was no bus service. She calculated she spent over £100 a month on fuel for the school run.
She also said she wasn't ethically shopping any more, because she couldn't afford to. No free-range or organic groceries, just 'basics'.
The house was cold because she daren't put the heating on.

And the real thing that made me laugh a bit, was that she said she was putting red-diesel in her car because it was the only way to get the kids to school.
Of course the radio interviewer told her to desist from illegal activities, but she said she was forced into such action.

Living in the country can be nice and scenic, but you really have to be prepared for all eventualities.

The problem is all this is all about to get a lot higher.

I don't believe Brexit has had any real influence on this because it's happening all over Europe. It's covid and the response to Russia.

What annoys me is that the media and politicians will talk a lot about morally justifying actions but when it comes to the resultant costs to our working and middle classes, neets, retired, it's about one or two sentences....and then they move on.

We are the headline generation, I don't think many think much about the consequences of anything....a form of language is put before them that appears to make an easy moral choice and they lap it up.....they aren't interested in the small text at the bottom.

... but they award themselves higher than cost of living annual pay increases on a consistent basis so they are certainly aware of the financial pressures

Remember that 'we are all in it together'.

Until it becomes about what actually matters to them....which is how rich they are.

Politics has become all about the control of language and perception management.....nothing is about what the actual outcomes are for the people affected.

We don't have parties that are interested in that.....All they care about is about dancing to their donor's tunes.

It's mind over matter. They don't mind and we don't matter.

'Those who make the laws, policy, rules, mandates are never subject to their consequences' - Victor Davis Hansen.

The richer someone is the more disproportionate power they have to influence yet the more detached they are to the consequences of policies that affect the poorest.

And the information in that image is powerful when you consider that the media is wall to wall in support of the elites.

In Ireland all MPs (TDs) get 9000 flat rate travel expenses for travel to work in Dublin. That includes those who already live in Dublin. Frankly, they don't have to touch their wages - so it is exactly me paying for them. I usually get the bus. I'm not sure what UK MPs get, I suspect it isn't as generous.
9000 is what? 170 a week or so for petrol. Hopefully, they can get by on that.

The TD's and those in the Dail are completely out of touch with reality and have been for some time!

Ha ha, for the many Ascp, but for the lucky few things are going just splendid, no cars on the road to hold them up, restaurants empty so nice table and no waiting, society is going just how they want, whats not to like?

I might as well get this in before some of the usual suspects! Yes, the cost of living is rocketing, some might say unfairly, but think of the shareholders! Also, we live in a democracy and if can"t make the rent, get another job, or two, or three! Life is getting very hard under these CONS, but we have democracy, and we voted for them! (I obviously didn"t, but you know who you are!). So suck it in people, load up your credit card to the max, just to survive, do not critic the government, sure they lie every day, and not just bungle, the whole cabinet, pretty Priti is getting good at it lately, but we expect it from them! And remember, bungle is a laugh, we would love to have a pint with him, if we could afford it, so who wants to moan about the cost of living? Sure you could lose your house, not make rent and be homeless, but look on the bright side, you won"t have to worry about council tax-which is going up again-win win!
