Baby Driver, not really a gangster film, but a brilliant soundtrack. The theme for Get Carter (among others) was composed and played by Roy Budd who went to my school. In fact, I beat him at marbles! I recall seeing him play piano at a Mullards kids Christmas party. He was probably only 6 or 7 and could play anything the kids shouted out. Died aged 46. Tragic. I never knew that, although Get Carter is one of my favourite films. Thanks.

He was a very shy lad, but a brilliant jazz pianist who went on to write numerous film scores. Lots about him on Wiki.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Not only one of my all time favourite films, but my favourite ending to a film. The late great Bob Hoskins, from the shock of being captured to that sudden realisation that he’s a dead man, with the greatest ever movie theme tune playing in the background, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end just thinking about it But little did he know, it was James Bond 007 pointing a gun at him, so he’s probably going to be okay Edited by monkey (22 Feb 2022 10.53am)

Just to be contentious, I'd suggest that The Godfather is first and foremost about family. A mafia family, 'tis true, but essentially about family all the same. Still one of the best films ever made, though.

Love Honour and Obey. To keep things with a London setting. A very funny film indeed.
I disengage, I turn the page. |
