I have been impressed with Lewis O'Brien of Huddersfield but he would not be a 'Steal'.
Provides energy and aggression, doesn't shy away from a tackle and is useful on the ball.

I think it would be a mistake to sell Eze unless Newcastle were offering absolutely ridiculous money.

Remember Maguire went for £80m.

So it would have to be at least north of that figure, otherwise go away.

It would seem more and more the case that we won’t be having Gallagher, next season. So selling Eze, is not essential. Replacing Gallagher, definitely is.
£40-45 mill is a lot of money, if true, so not an impossible option, even allowing for giving QPR their slice. But I don’t see it moving us forward by much. And if Eze, would fetch that money, you have to wonder what Gallagher , might fetch.

Eze will come good again for us. Keep the faith.

Its basically 6 defenders and 4 attackers, you can not have the three midfielders running back all the time at the moment we are playing with three defensive midfielders, the only creative player is Olise, Wilf has an assist every 6/7 games, not good, that is why we don't create much, Eze is crucial to our team, Gallagher is not

i love Eze, but he was work in progress last year and then got his severe injury.
He scored 4 goals last season - 2 against a poor Sheff Utd, plus Wolves and a great free kick v Leeds.

He did get a few assists but many of these were as he takes the set pieces (Everton and Newcastle spring to mind) so in open play there were probably 3 or 4 assists.

Over c30 games that's not a great return - certainly no better than Zaha. In many games he went missing and away from home in particular he rarely contributed. Roy did experiment with him in the No10 a few times - i remember away at BHA he was very ineffective and got subbed.

When someone is missing we often talk them up, the same is often the case with Schlupp.

However, based on the few performances this season and a few sub cameos he has looked a little off the pace.

Next season after a solid pre season i think he could really perform, but on current evidence he is not a starter IMHO.

Hopefully he will get a start v Stoke - let's see how he gets on.

We were heavily linked with him last year and the price was far less than what the media are suggesting now

Maguire was already a regular England international and had ~100 Premier league games under his belt - he was also bought in a hurry with a deadline approaching, in a position where there is a massive lack of top class talent.

Silly to think we'll get anywhere close to that for Eze, never mind over it.

I suspect Vieira will be asked about Eze in the forthcoming pre Chelsea press conference.
He won’t go into chapter and verse about Eze’s future, but there may be one or two pointers as to how he see Eze’s involvement moving forward.

There's no point having 11 hard working and pressing players if none of them can produce a chance between them. Having a creative player is not a luxury, it's a necessity. Players like Eze are the difference between a draw and a win, especially in more evenly matched games. Does Coutinho press? Does Fernandes? No, but they do win games, sometimes almost single-handedly. Hard working players are easy to find, players like Eze are not. If he plays like he did in the half-dozen games before his injury then Newcastle need to double that £45m or get lost (I prefer the latter option either way).

Harsh again ,first season in the Prem and he 10g/a from literally Lwb because he was so deep due to Roy’s setup. averaging a g/a just over every 3 games. Zaha played Striker scored 11 and got 1 assist , Eze had to create his chances on his own because he was so deep. Also once he got moved centrally by Roy , he was different class and contributed 6g/a in 10 games from the middle Role.

Who has said that Eze is being sold, all pure nonsense.

On another thread someone is suggesting we could lose Gallagher ( we know already, that happens with loans), Eze and Zaha at the end of the season. No substance of truth at all, just starting threads to get bites.

Don't forget though he has playing in Roy's very rigid style
