Disappointing 2nd. half after a bright start. Poor finishing against sub standard opposition, particularly by Mateta and Mitchell. That will have to improve immensely for next weeks game against Norwich. Happy to win despite the lacklustre performance.

Nice to see Martin Kelly back, and as usual, never lets us down.

Yep, put in a decent shift. Good squad player, great pro.

I wouldn’t read too much into the display. Did what was needed and never really troubled. Plus no injuries or silly bookings. Should have scored more but that has been the story of the season.

I think we can and will go up a gear or two at Norwich on Wednesday.

Could someone at the game provide player ratings? Unfortunately didn’t get to see it. Reports say that Olise was magnificent and Mateta was awful (4/10) but love to hear from someone here.

We did enough to day, early goal helped, but our finishing was woeful again as usual. Big games coming up against Norwich and Brentford so it’s got to improve

Olise was MotM. Looked dangerous every time he touched the ball.

Mateta made some good runs. One time Olise just missed him with an easy cross that would have been a sure goal. Another time Mateta hit the post from 2 yards out. I think he played pretty well aside from that one miss.

Pool goalie made a few excellent saves, or the score could have been much worse. We were very wasteful in front of goal, again.

They never really troubled us. I'd say they maybe had 2-3 half-chances the entire match.

I think you mean 'much better'. But, yes, we definitely need to get better at taking our chances.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Got the job done, good result, but could have had more. We are too slow moving the ball. We pass it successfuly through the lines, get into a good position and then roll it backwards and sideways all over again, given the opposition a chance to get in shape. Not fast enough moving the ball, not clinical enough in front of goal. Fancy Norwich will do a job on us next week.

It felt a bit like watching an extended training session or an exhibition match. Overall Hartlepool offered very little resistance, but a combination of good goalkeeping and casual finishing kept us from scoring the 2-3 more goals we would have, if only we'd been more focused.

I'm looking forward to hearing match reports from the Park. Based on the U.S. feed, there was surprisingly little energy in the stands, but perhaps it was a matter of how the commentators and the fans were mic'd up. All in all, a professional win which I hope won't make us complacent for Norwich.

Well ladies and gentlemen, first of all thank you for a fantastic day out. Really enjoyed the trip and us Poolies had a great day. Some great videos on YouTube of us enjoying ourselves in and around the ground.

The game went as I expected (slightly better if being honest) You never got out of first gear and never needed to. Two early goals basically put the game to bed. We huffed and puffed but nowhere near your quicker slick standard. IF we had scored, I think Palace would of got into second gear and ended up 4 or 5-1.

As previously said top club and amazing fans. Good luck this and future seasons you deserve it.

Their keeer had a brilliant game, stopped the result becoming a cricket score,he made more saves than our wasted chances.

Totally agree with this. Their keeper made some great saves, in both halves.

Does anyone know what happened in the AW? Hope, whoever it was, is ok now.
