Look stateside at Trump and Biden. Do these elected 70 somethings really conduct themselves with more dignity or care more about their people or country than our Queen? If anything they only got to this position due to the influence and corruption that is rife in politics. I get peoples annoyance that the royals, but she has a decency and concern that's detached from all of that nonsense and so holds a valuable place in public life in my view.

A royal visit to Wales, with perhaps a slight lack of dignity shown by the locals in the village.

I am a republican and yet I find I have organised a garden party this Friday to celebrate her platinum jubilee.

She is a great lady who has served this country with distinction unfortunately the same cannot be said for many of her family.

Anyway it seems churlish not to wish her the best.

. I bet she'd laugh at this. Though The Queen Mother was the one with the cheeky sense of humour really.

We'll miss her when she's gone. I'm no royalist either but she certainly knows the meaning of duty like so other. Rarely if ever a misstep and as you highlight, even when there is a lack of loyalty or morality in those around her, she lends a level of dignity in her repsonses to it. I'll be raising a toast to her.

It's been a great act.

And its time for the final curtain with her passing.

In this country, NO monarch gets elected, thats why they are the MONARCH, don't like that, GO.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

The government will launch a review on when and where imperial measurements can be used, to coincide with the Queen's Jubilee weekend. (BBC)

Brilliant, I'll have 10 gallons of unleaded please. A fiver would cover that easily,...and 'keep the change, mate'

One of the images from the last two years which will stay with me is of the Queen sitting on her own at Prince Phillips funeral. Even though she was offered a special dispensation and told the rules were changing anyway in a matter of weeks she refused because it wouldn’t be setting the right example.
She is a remarkable woman and we’ve been lucky to have her for so long. Not so fortunate with most of her family though.

Tips hat.

Well said. In light of what's come since, it shines more of a light than ever on her decency and character.

That's a bit harsh as he isn't a real person but a bot programmed by the forum management to keep starting threads and post nonsense
