Half of all Social Media content is lies, more is misleading and the rest is opinionated spin. This should not be forgotten. The Police, with the necessary experience, access and means will investigate this, and it should be the courts judgement who is guilty of what.

As in referring to how things may appear based on what is out there rather than conclusively claim we know precisely what happened. The trouble he has is that clearly in society acting this way towards your partner is entirely unacceptable and the combination of images and shocking audio appear very damning. You're right that a court of law ultimately decides on these matters, but at the same time when deeply troubling content like this is released on the account of the person it appears to have happened to, it's unrealistic to expect people not to comment.

I don't know why this needed to be posted on Instagram, rather than reported to the police. If guilty, career over.

It's so hard to get the police to take this stuff seriously, particularly when it's your partner - going public is a far more effective way for her to get out of the relationship given Greenwood's profile, and clearly it's worked.

You'd struggle to come up with any reasonable explanation for the accusation, audio and images beyond it being exactly what it looks and sounds like - I get your overarching point, but in this case it feels a bit like Boris' 'wait for the report' when everyone knows the reality.

It doesn't sound like she had an awful lot of support around her. Isn't it the case that she's now rowing back and saying she didn't even post the images and audio. She comes across as scared, and even if her act was a brief moment of bravery I'm pleased she was able to muster that.

The facts must be established first. There are statements from the father that don't make much sense in relation to the media release.....and no personally I don't view Instagram as a valid method to start the process. I get the disgust and that audio is indeed disgusting and images as well, if they pan out....at the very least Greenwood has a case to answer and at the worst jail time for rape. However, we are not lynch mobs and do not take someone's liberty away without due and proper process that ensures that justice isn't only seen to be done....but actually done. Edited by Stirlingsays (31 Jan 2022 12.11pm) I don't agree - there are no circumstances where that audio is acceptable. It sounds just like him, she uses his name, they have a known history together... so regardless of the rest, I can be 99% confident that is him I'm listening to, and I can therefore be 100% confident that he's an utter scumbag. I don't need a load of bluster from expensive lawyers to be sure of that. You don't need to view Instagram as valid - the victim of the abuse decided it was her best course of action, and it worked. It is these type of narratives on how you're supposed to react which really damage victim's credibility. I also think your first reaction being to question whether the blood is real is unhelpful, to put it politely. Given how hard it is for women to get a conviction on these types of charges, I do not at all agree that the court trial is when we can decide how to react - it is essentially fact that Ronaldo has raped someone, and yet he is drowned in adoration every week.
