So your anti Philp stance is based on what other than he is Conservative?
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

St Olave's, Oxford, McKinsey. Truly representative of the people of Croydon. Completely failed to understand what it takes to buy a house these days (presumably because he is so isolated from reality). He owns multiple homes meanwhile but refuses to confirm how many. Has an offshore business in Montenegro for tax purposes Managed to 'drive' his cigarette delivery and HGV training company into the ground which went bankrupt after losing £2m per year. He managed to sell for peanuts just beforehand. He was brought in as Director of Sales by an old McKinsey colleague and joined with Sam Gyimah. When the business was sold for £100,000, it meant the unsecured creditors of Philp and Gyimah’s HGV training business each received just 1.5p for every £1 they were owed. The sad thing is the company owed £1.4 million to people who had paid upfront for HGV training. He was never honest about this failure, along with Sam Gyimah who faced de-selection as a result. Need I go on?

The now defunct Labour council were not only odious but almost certainly crooked The current Planning and Housing Departments are also both incompetent and crooked Of the mayoral candidates Jason Perry is nowhere near a strong enough candidate, even with the highly partisan and immoral support he will get from the Government. He runs the family plastics business and has been on the council for 28 years. He voted for the various disastrous budgets and initiatives that brought it to bankruptcy. Val Shawcross has done bigger jobs, has history on Croydon council and isn’t tainted by the recent debacle. I would agree that Jason Perry is to lightweight for a role as large as mayor of Croydon. Would appear to be a yes man and associated with Council failings over the years. With approx 1% of the population of England that the Borough is now too large, diverse, and complex for an amateur. I suggest that the borough is split into a return to the pre' March '65 situation as the reasons for amalgamation are now moot. Sanderstead, Purley, and Coulsdon should be established either as a Borough of London or Surrey District. This would allow both Croydon and the Southern neighbourhoods to pursue policies aligned with the majority of voters in their constituencies. It would allow Coulsdon and Purley that were annexed by Croydon to have self-determination, the determination that constituents voted for along with Caterham and Warlingham. 50 years ago.

The centre of purley is a toilet. It doesn’t feel like Surrey at all. The nicer residential roads might do but rough sleepers and beggars by Tesco entrance, under the Purley cross and in that tiny walkthrough by Coughlans and by the new small Sainsbury’s does not make it feel like Surrey whatsoever. The place is now fecked. May as well build the skyscraper and charge everyone £400k with nowhere to park. No wonder there’s so much bad attitude on the roads there.

Croydon South Tory MP, Chris Philp’s email: Dear all, Next Thursday, 5th May, Croydon elects a new council and an Executive Mayor. I urge you to support Jason Perry for Mayor, and your local Conservative candidates for the Council. Jason has a plan to restore the Borough’s finances by ending Labour’s reckless property speculation and winding up their disgraceful Brick by Brick property company. Jason will end Labour’s terrible planning policies that have seen so many family homes destroyed, green spaces built on and residents’ views arrogantly ignored on a weekly basis at Planning Committee. He will protect family homes and green spaces, and make sure significant development only happens in appropriate places (such as Croydon town centre and brownfield sites). Jason will restore the graffiti cleaning team, fix the appalling bin collections and clamp down on anti-social behaviour. Jason will also make sure council tenants are not left living in squalor as Labour has done. Critically, Jason will also use the office of Mayor to make and implement a plan to regenerate Croydon town centre. After the collapse of the Westfield scheme on Labour’s watch, Croydon town centre is a mess. Jason will seize the initiative to bring forward a proper regeneration plan for the Whitgift centre and wider area, and I will support him to do that by bringing Government to the table as well. Labour Councillors have bankrupted the borough and as a result meals on wheels have just been cancelled for the borough’s older residents and council tax benefit for the poorest has been slashed. Labour cannot even properly collect the bins, and there isn’t space to talk about the Fairfield Halls scandal they presided over. That’s why I am backing Jason Perry and ask you to give Jason and your local Conservative council candidates your vote in the election on Thursday. Together, let’s take the first step towards making Croydon better. We can do this. Chris
