Err, no. Batshuayi was s*** the year he was supposedly "good" for us. He was utter s*** the year he was s*** for us. And he's been even s***ter this year in Turkey, in comparison to lesser s***s (Sorloth and Tosun, to name two of that variety of turd) who've flourished in Turkey. It's the usual "let's bring back someone who used to play for Palace, just because he used to play for Palace, even though he's s***" s*** suggestion. There are probably a good ten forwards in League Two I'd be more excited about signing that Bats***suayi.

I don't know his situation but I think e would be ideal in the PV set-up. A quality international player too. Seeing him team up with loftus Cheek and Zaha his finishing ability excellent. But the ultra defensive system left him stranded and he couldn't get enough time in.

A quality international player too. Bulls***. The last five years. Chelsea, Valencia (loan), Palace (loan). None wanted to keep him or sign him. Don't you think there just might be a reason for this? Quality international player? He's scored 22 goals in 38 games for Belgium. Impressive, eh? Until you look at who he's scored them against: Cyprus And one lonely, solitary goal against decent opposition (Italy, in a friendly). A Championship forward if ever I saw one. He's ripping up trees in Turkey. So did Cenk Tosun. So did Alexander Sorloth. Both quality international forwards, eh? Are you selling any of whatever it is you're using at the moment?

I take it that's a "no" from you then Syd. You think? I'd rather sign a 70-year-old Dave Swindelhurst, personally.

Batshuayi is basically lazy. He had his opportunities to impress with us and failed to do so. In his first spell with us, we were playing good counter=-attacking football as evidenced by our 9 wins away from home with 31 goals scored out of a total of 51. Batshuayi's contribution was 5 league goals, 3 of which came in the last two meaningless games against Cardiff and Bournemouth, thereby flattering him somewhat. The less said about his efforts last season, the better. Even Benteke outshone him and says a lot.

Batsman has been pretty much a Belgian regular since 2015 and played in the last fixture, he has 8 international goals. He scored for us with Zaha and Loftus Cheek 4-1 against Leicester, one of our best performances, RH was only defensive because it was necessary. Bournemouth 5-3 was another with him scoring twice after Zaha and AWB linking up. He is out on loan notched up 8 goals in Belgium. RH speaks very highly of Bats, just could not fit him in.

RH was only defensive because it was necessary. Nothing to do with Batshuayi but this is simply not true and at best it's revisionist history, in truth just plain wrong. Roy was at Palace for four years and while you can say that during the first twelve months (or less) he was stuck with the players he inherited and, perhaps, thus had to play a defensive system, four years is plenty of time for a coach/manager to buy players, bring through players, and coach players into a different tactic altogether. But Roy's teams played the same way from his first match to his last. Roy wasn't defensive because it was necessary. Roy was defensive because that's how Roy's team's played. They always have; literally, every team he's ever managed has played Royball. Ask Danny Murphy. Roy embeds a formula that's driven by damage limitation. Players know their roles. Safety-first is the order of the day. His teams hit you on the break. If Roy had Messi and Ronaldo in this team, they'd still played Royball. What he did at West Brom, Liverpool, England, and Palace was the same. Were the requirements of each of those squads to be defensive because it was necessary? No. We all love the Palace and we all appreciate that at first, Roy kept us up and then cemented us the Premier League. But for goodness sakes, the last two years were painful to watch. Did anyone actually look forward to going to a game? I know he's brought in a lot of new players but does anyone make Roy look quite so bad as Patrick Vieira? It IS possible to entertain with Joel Ward, Kouyate, Schlupp, and Benteke in your team. Just not with Roy as manager.

Looking at the eleven-man touch goal scored by Gallagher, it was actually set up by Wardy moving forward. So who is to say, personally I did not mind RH efforts and learnt much more about defence. I realise that before I had a blind spot.
