Was this the guy who had the run in with Paul Ince after the Cantona incident?.. Looks like him... Anyway RIP big man. Wasn’t he sitting next to Matthew Simmonds when it happened?

I was 14 in 68/69 when we achieved our first promotion to the top flight. With mates a few years older we went all over the country and at that time trouble was inevitable. I lost count of the number of times Denny stood in front of opposing gangs of fans and said ‘If you want to get to them you’ll have to go through me’! My first away game was Leicester, early 70s as a 16 yo. We were chased by Leicester fans, Denny turned round and lamped the lead Leicester fan, giving us time to get on the coach. Him and his mates also looked after me at Leeds. Never spoke to him again but forever grateful

In the early seventies, when the Holmesdale end was still terracing, I witnessed Denny knocking the s-it out of a West Ham so called hard but after West Ham took the Palace end.Well took the end except for Denny. My niece's husband who was a West Ham fan mentioned Denny years ago ,told me his name before I mentioned him.His reputation obviously went all over London. Definitely a Palace legend

R.I.P. Denny, went to school with him used to knock around with him in Rommany Road West Norwood back in the day. Steve Watts, whose son Grant played for Palace knocked around with us too. Happy days, back then we all went to Palace together, good times. As I said R.I.P. Denny and my condolences to his friends and family. I know Steve Watts well. He still goes Palace, drinks in the Victory Club. Top fella, sh*t golfer. lives in Orpington.

From ' Palace Programmes Through The Years ' Facebook group ; '' Hi all please can we spread the word for Fridays game 👊🏻❤️💙🙏🏻😎 In honour of our Palace legend Denny Warren who passed away this week we are hoping to get the whole away end singing "One Denny Warren" on the 75th minute of the game on Friday night. Please can you share this far and wide and help us give the recognition he so richly deserves as our Guvnor of the Palace ''

CPFC: Terry Long. Jim Cannon. Wilf. Steve Coppell. You can put the name Denny Warren right up there alongside them. Those of us of a certain, age, whether we knew him personally or not, all knew Denny Warren. RIP. Love to his family.
Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God. |

It was usually Denny at the forefront of skirmishes with the locals when on the route march back to the station at away games in the late 70s, most notably Stoke City and Sheffield United.

I never personally knew Denny but remember a night back in the good old 70’s. Me and a few other Palace boys were living it up at whiskers in Stretham. Was the place to be back then. Loads of Millwall where in there chanting and causing havoc. We were all minding our own business at the bar sinking a few double diamonds and Denny walked right up to the main one and absolutely leathered him. Few of Denny’s pals were with him but he didn’t need the back up. Good job really as a few of his mates think it was Bill and Kitey was at the bar more interested in a the bits of crumpet from Mitcham rather than getting stuck right in to the brawl. Gotta love the good old days.
