He gets no sympathy from me. My guess is that he will end up playing and the Aussie crowd will give him the terrible reception he deserves.

I don’t get the “hatred” for Djokovic from some people here - the guy is the world No 1 tennis player, has won the Aus open 9 times (and is the current holder) was invited to participate and, by all accounts, fulfilled the entry criteria? He is absolutely dedicated to his profession and that includes strict dietary conditions - why have so many people been conditioned to blame those that choose not to take the vaccinations, if, in the unlikely event, his decision makes him ill then that is his risk? I say this as someone who has chosen to get vaccinated. I think that if he plays the crowd will be polarised as Melbourne has seen a number of huge protests against Dan Andrews “dictatorial management” and those people may well see Novak as their “champion” especially if he goes on to win it for a 10th time..

He, like the rest of us, have a moral duty to do our bit to get past the pandemic. Hospitals are packed with unvaccinated people and that is the problem. He’s obviously a great tennis player, but that is irrelevant.

There are allegedly a large number of premier league players who are not vaccinated- I assume that this includes some Palace players so would you direct your anger on to them as well and hope that they don't play for Palace any more?

The Aussies have had to put up with some of the strictest lock down and travel restrictions in the free world. Thousands of them were stranded abroad for months at a time due to the quota system. So understandably they are over sensitive to any perception of celebs getting preferential treatment. I am not saying Novac has done anything wrong I have no idea but I guess this is their Dominc Cumminghs moment. Edited by Badger11 (09 Jan 2022 10.20am)

It’s well known that young healthy people (like myself) are unlikely to get seriously ill from covid - by this I mean hospitalised. I’ll get over a flu pretty quick, I’m more concerned about spreading it to older people such as my parents and neighbours as it could kill them. Getting vaccinated slows down transmission - fact. And yes, absolutely I would be angry at non vaxxed Palace players and I would support non vaccinated players not being allowed to play. They, like Nojab, have a social responsibility. I would welcome them back after they were jabbed.

People have died from a multitude of other treatable illnesses/conditions, because Covid has taken up valuable resources. That said, even vaccinated people are capable of transmitting the virus. Yep, he's a selfish idiot. Imagine your wife or one of your parents desperately in need of a life saving operation and there are no hospital beds because they're full of anti vaxxers.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Or imagine that, despite a world wide pandemic, we're blaming a small amount of people who don't get vaccinated over governments and their poor responses, combined with complete disregard for the real state of many health services. All of this, plus the vaccine has a relatively limited effect anyway. If it worked there would literally be no problem at all

Plus, those who have been vaccinated have done everything they can to protect themselves and others. Edited by Goal Machine (09 Jan 2022 2.22pm)
