The Honours system is OK for recognising a career’s achievement but not for sportspeople who win a race or actors who manage to stay alive. I bang on about time serving civil servants but it also applied to actors and sports people. They are doing their job and most are well paid for it why does that warrant an honour. I spent my career in finance where's my knighthood?

Phillip Green got it. Apparently Green was recommended for the knighthood by Sir John Collins, the former executive of Shell and chairman of Dixons. It’s also thought that Tony Blair put his name forward as well....feck calling him a sir. Complete showers.

If there are free drinks too.. I'm definitely there. I'm not cheap, just part Scot. I used to be a fellow of the Royal Irish Academy, which I used to find somewhat amusing - you can probably see the irony.

Though I like the 'I'm not cheap, just part Scot'.....could stick that on a gravestone along with 'I'm not drunk, just part Scot'.
