Let’s be honest, apart from the occasional gem we uncover I.e zaha, wan bissaka and Mitchell, most of our so called highly rated youngsters will end up where they usually do, playing in the lower leagues or non-league because they’re simply not good enough. Obviously now the academy has gone up a level, we’ll be hoping for a more regular supply of youngsters good enough for the top flight

Exactly!! Let’s be honest, apart from the occasional gem we uncover I.e zaha, wan bissaka and Mitchell, most of our so called highly rated youngsters will end up where they usually do, playing in the lower leagues or non-league because they’re simply not good enough. Obviously now the academy has gone up a level, we’ll be hoping for a more regular supply of youngsters good enough for the top flight

Ferguson - signed as an 19 year old after a few West Brom games. Him and Olise seem to have overtaken the entirety of the home grown academy players.

What you appear to be suggesting is putting our U23 players into the First Team just for the sake of it.

Personally I think that currently we have more than enough strength in depth with our senior players which in turn means that the youngsters really do have to be pulling up trees in u18/23 level to get a sniff. This is exactly as it should be. The club has invested heavily and will want players to get through, or have a resale value that covers the costs when selling to other clubs. We will also now start taking some of the best young talent from around the UK & Europe. If they are good enough they will get through and if not we will sell them on or release them.

This is exactly as it should be. The club has invested heavily and will want players to get through, or have a resale value that covers the costs when selling to other clubs. We will also now start taking some of the best young talent from around the UK & Europe.

If they are good enough they will get through and if not we will sell them on or release them.

Some of it has to do with nurture and how much the club believes in youth player promotion. Gallagher was on Chelsea's bench for a European final. AWB was on his way to Coventry - Richard Shaw has connections with them

Schlupp's not going to Afcon, he wasn't picked in Ghana's squad.

For a reason. Ferguson was doing the business in the Championship and Olise was young player of the year in the Championship last year. Nobody knows for certain but that is the point of good coaches to use their judgement and experience to make the best decisions for the players development. Nobody knows that if I was to offer out Tyson Fury I wouldn't win but I'm going to use my judgement and not start on him.
