Disagree this is the reason, surely a place on the bench is worth it. If we are winning comfortably give them some game time And when was the last time we were winning comfortably ? You could argue that actually, giving game time is easier when the game is beyond us - e.g. Rak-Sakyi brought on at Chelsea and Ferguson against Spurs on Boxing Day

A glorious afternoon in SE London or oh s***e we are being dragged into a relegation fight. I can’t make my mind up. Minimum requirement is a draw and move on.

i cannot understand why the younger players are not getting any game time, some are doing really well in the premier B league, surely it is time for 3 or 4 on the bench Aside from the Covid issues, it's a mistake to consider decent team performances in the U23 League equate to readiness for the first team. The standard is akin to the National League - how would you feel if Palace signed players from there and then put them into the squad ? It's been discussed before, but Painter is right in saying that the coaches know more about young players than we do. Believe me, if a coach feels his player/s are worth a run out with the First Team, they will push their case at PV. Initially that involves joining in the senior teams training sessions. We know that is already happening.

A win against Norwich,by far the worst side in this league is surely a minimum standard. Edited by Jacey (28 Dec 2021 9.55am) Edited by Jacey (28 Dec 2021 9.56am)

I fear this could be a typical Palace shambles ending in defeat.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Such negativity! We currently sit 12th with 20 points, a reasonable total given the circumstances. Sadly I feel that many Palace fans are still gripped by "Hodgson Syndrome", whereby bunkering down, putting on the tin helmet, and hoping for the best is all we have to offer. It's a state of mind, think positively!

Has a bad feeling about this one! Will be all right with a draw. If both Zaha and Gallagher are not available, I fear for the score. Would be happy with a 1-1 draw...

We know that is already happening. I agree with all of this, antecedence says in recent years the only Palace homegrown players to make it are Zaha, AWB, Williams and Mitchell. The Coaches are best place to say when players are ready taking in to consideration Ability, physicality, vision, fitness and mental ability to cope with the pressure that players have to endure at this level. Banging a few goals in at u23 level is a long way from PL level.

We can't seem to cope with two games in a week, therefore having played two days ago is surely a danger sign. We are missing a number of players from a squad that has very little, if any, strength in depth, the manager is MIA and we aren't playing very well at the moment. Pessimism is certainly justified, even if you find it unacceptable.
