Owners are meeting today to discuss the recent Covid issues in the PL. Suspect this will also be discussed. There was reticence to release players for this tournament before recent issues, this may well be higher now. Trouble is, the PL haven't got a say in stopping players going, that, is down to FIFA. Afcon a a bone-fide FIFA tournement.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

As things stand there is no need to rush Eze, back , as the team is ticking over nicely, in most respects now. Letting in 24goals, has stopped us. from being top six mind, improve that and we are cooking on gas.

Personally I would have wanted to see some little cameos in the last coupe of games. Either as a wide forward or in the middle (e.g. giving CG a break against Southampton)

A few factors appear relevant. Physically, Eze hasn't played for eight months or so, hasn't done a pre season and only returned to contact training a few weeks ago while everyone else has been playing Premier league football for months. Eze could have done a million sit ups and laps of the pool during rehab, it won't make him match fit, especially compared to everyone else mid-season. Strategically, the team is doing really well without him so there is no obvious reason to push him back into the starting XI straight away. God knows we've had plenty of periods where we desperately needed a particular player back from injury to change our form (Zaha mostly) but this isn't one of them. Selection-wise Gallagher is pulling up trees right now, and he's the obvious player Eze would replace. I know Eze and Gallagher could both play with one holding midfielder behind them, but I think Vieira prefers one attacking midfielder, one to hold and one to do a bit of both. If Eze plays, then either the midfield dynamics change or Gallagher drops deeper, and why do that at the moment? Tactically, and as others have observed, Eze isn't one for chasing people down in the way Vieira perhaps likes. More to the point I think, Eze likes to hold onto the ball and that slows the passing down. I shouldn't think any of this is fatal. Vieira appears adaptable, and Eze will surely enjoy playing for him, so no big drama. Overall, he'll play when the manager decides it's best for the team, and in time play very well I'm certain. People are talking like Gallagher is our player, He has 21 league games left before he leaves, obviously he is a good player but we haven't got a cat in hells chance of him being at Palace next season, Eze is the future for our club and i have a horrible feeling he is going to spend a lot of time sitting on the Bench, He could be a Target for Newcastle, his 30k a week could go to 200k, he will get pissed off if he doesn't get game time soon

If you look at him he has a big strong build with large very muscular legs. Physically this could be why the injury occurred. Don’t forget he is not due back till January. We are clearly not taking any chances. Such is the benefit of a reasonably sized squad with a loan player as good as Gallagher as lynch pin to our season.

But is that is what you are implying ? That he should, in favour of Eze ?? Eze is still on a comeback journey which is far from complete. For that reason alone, it's not likely that Newcastle, to use your example, would invest in a player still a long way from being 100% match fit. And then pitch him straight into a relegation battle.

I disagree completely, He is exactly the type of player Newcastle are looking for a 60m bid, and he will be gone

2. Having listened to his in depth interview when he was still in rehab Eze struck me as that rare person - humble, thankful for what he has been able to do and patient. I don't see him throwing his toys out of the pram and rushing off elsewhere in a huff if he doesn't get game time. Furthermore, I think Vieira has good man=management skills and will make sure Eze is looked after properly and given game time when fully ready and appropriate.
