I think the key is Edouard has to be played as the CF. Against Leeds he spent most of the game confused with Wilf as to who was LW and who was CF. Wilf as CF worked perfectly against City but against any teams outside of the top 4 we really need to simplify things.

We try and play as a team and it's a question of how much each player contributes to the team effort. Olise doesn't look ready yet to be a regular starter imo, but is a good option off the bench although I'd like to see him coming on a lot earlier than the 80 something minute. Eze is still getting back to match speed and we may not see the best of him until sometime after Christmas. Ayew on the other hand tends to give a solid performance for the team most weeks and is likely to continue as first choice for the foreseeable future until one of the other two is ready.

Ayew being made the scapegoat again, the guy gives 100% every game. It's a team game, he can't be solely responsible for every defeat.

Yes, he works his socks off. Yes, he gets hacked down and wins free-kicks, he also dishes out a few. But his end product is close to non-existent, and having a raw talent like Olise on the bench is close to heart-breaking.
Add Edouard sitting while that static, non-anticipating Benteke is out on the grass to make me wonder what he, Ayew, and Schlupp (in the thick of the action at Old Trafford but only ball-watching, like he did when Fred scored the winner) are doing during training to cement a place in the starting line-up?

This is the crux of the matter. Benteke is, and always has been the problem. Playing him brings a certain one-dimensionality to our game because he is a very one dimensional player. Why did we acquire Eduoard? Ayew is not the problem here, he's playing out of position and supposedly is there to provide cover for the right back. Perhaps we need to start looking for new right back as that position is incredibly weak.

Must admit that I think Ayew has been one of our top performers in recent weeks. I hadn’t realised his goal return was so poor which I guess is important.

I think we’re struggling as all the front players have played quite well and we have a bit of a selection problem meaning we have no consistency in team selection. In my opinion Olise showed vs. Villa that he’s not ready for a start which is why I’d start with Ayew and bring on Olise when the game is more stretched.

I’d expect Eze to slot in somewhere in the started 11 when he is match fit.

Apart from the top strikers in the top three teams, watching other premiership games there are so many misses from open goal chances by so many other players. The difference is the top teams create so many chances that by the law of averages and having the best strikers in the world they score more.
We only had a couple of chances so they always look worse when they are missed.Watching Jack Grealish for City he should have had a hat trick but ended up with none. The difference is they created about 15 chances and scored three.

And to be fair to Benteke (and Edouard), in the games where we dominated possession and created lots of chance, they did actually score goals. It's just that Benteke needs about 4 or 5 decent chances in a game to score 1.
