I am always delighted when we exit the League Cup early as it is valueless and allows our players to largely rest midweek all the way to Christmas.

The FA Cup is an entirely different matter and the only thing I want as a football fan is to see our club's name engraved on in my lifetime.

Am still in therapy over 1990.
Haven't even begun dealing with 2016...together they form a recurring nightmare stretched over a 26 year period.

Surely with all the positives in the current squad we pick our strongest team and go for it from round 3?

I have a feeling we'll play Chelsea in the Final. Someone remind me of this post when we crash out in the 4th round to Exeter City !!

The African cup may have an impact on team selection.

A cup run?? You might have to remind us all what that actually means

Spot on. We haven't scored a single goal in either League or F.A.Cup since losing to Watford in early 2019!

I was there to see the lesser spotted cup goal, a rare thing indeed

i don't think the league cup is valueless. If we had beaten Watford players like Tomkins, Clyne, Hughes etc would get valuable game time in the next round.

As a Palace fan of nearly 50 years winning a major trophy would be unbelievable (i am excluding the Simod Cup) so i am always disappointed when we don't take cup matches seriously - happy to utilise the squad as and when required
