I tried it myself but my neighbour didn't seem to appreciate it when I was in their back garden with a balaclava and a spray can. Bloody Philistines.

I honestly don't think Banksy is very good.

Also I don't understand why his graffiti is considered to be art that needs to be protected whereas anyone who attempts to "enhance" one of his works with their own artistic additions is accused of vandalism.

Art is always about opinion,

I saw his exhibition in London it was good. The key thing is people are prepared to pay big bucks for his stuff so he can paint my garage door anytime he likes.

Art is all about opinion was exactly my point. I quite like the artistic merit of daubing a Banksy, yet those who do so are judged to offenders - by the media, by local councils, even by posters on HOL. In a number of cases their actions have been investigated by the police.

Yes, I always think art is like a mindset, if you look at something long enough you can convince yourself you know that the artist is saying! That unmade bed went for over a million and was just a load of s*** poured over a bed, or was it?I had her in my cab, lives spitalfields way. Reminds me, I picked up two creepy older geezers back in the day from there, both in same suits and ties, pink ties, creepy, looked like statues in madam tusauds of hague or crippen. They wanted me to drive them all over London, dropping books off etc, it was going to cost a small fortune! Anyway, I raked up the bill in my head, looked at these two creepy fellas, and decided I wanted paying up front! Told them to give me 50 to start, they did, and one said "don"t you know who we are?". I said no i don"t, he handed me one of the books and both were on the cover, in same suits, it was Gilbert and George!

If, paintbrush and palette in hand, I decided to add a few touches to the Mona Lisa, I doubt it would be a very popular move.

Yes, this got me thinking, surely, the "artist" who was "enhancing" the mona lisa or whichever famous painting it was in the national portrait gallery, with a stanley blade, should be recognised as such.(an artist_), and not a vandal!

State-sponsored Rebel. How could you not be commercially successful with the BBC kowtowing to you every week ?

Soc-Lib politics , crowding out the art....unfortunately.

Let's see a graffiti artist who is to the Right of Centre....see him coming to the fore ? nope, didnt think so.

I will agree that the work of Banksy looks good, thought provoking, funny or entertaining. But thousands of other clowns at art-school could easily be all of these things.

Art has always been distorted by political & moneyed elites. With their minions deciding what art we will read, listen to, look at.
