So you don’t think people voted for less immigration = less suppression of wages = more money & better conditions. Okay pal. This matter surrounding this crisis because immigration has been used to exploit and keep wages down seems a surprise to you. It isn’t a surprise to many who voted Brexit but somehow it is to you. Good one.

I could go back and find the same remainers complaining about zero hours contracts and the gig economy. Amusing

I just find all of the revisionism hilarious - Brexiteers dismissed every and any concern about Brexit as Project Fear, and now so many of you sit there and claim this was always to be expected and we knew what we were voting for - it's just demonstrably untrue.

You claimed everyone was willingly voting for a 'correction in the labour market' - it's a huge stretch to claim that any vague anti-immigration sentiment was voting for that.

Remember when remainers accused leavers of voting for anti-immigrant reasons, and there was a load of faux-outrage that this was not true and it was all about sovereignty and whatever other s***e was being peddled at the time.. now we've done a full 180!

It was for both those reasons and you’re suffering selective memory because you’re ignoring most of the north voting Brexit.

Wage suppression has been an issue for years, but if you want to pretend it hasn’t been then no point in any discussion.

I agree wage suppression has been an issue for years - the pretence is that Brexiters (who mostly vote Tory) have ever given a sh*t about it.

Boris and Rees-Mogg; the champions of unskilled workers, aye?

The problem being all the foresight needed was going to cost money to implement. The same applies to any ideas of paying higher and higher wages. There is a huge problem in all of this, called the cost of living, because the consumer always picks up the tab.
I never thought I would hear Tory MPs and their press , telling companies to pay more out in wages. But I suppose anything beats admitting that their Brexit always had these huge flaws in its implementation.

As someone who voted for Brexit and hoped that the government would actually plan and prepare it's safe to say they have magnificently failed to do so, and clearly aren't looking out for the interests of the people at any stage. 'But at least they aren't Labour' doesn't really cut it anymore, and is just a mantra we use to mug ourselves off.

If a government limits freedom of movement of people and goods, it doesn't take much intelligence to realise that without proper guidance to business and planning for shortages (of ..well duh labour and goods) we'll have problems.. and problems we have.

Still I'm sure their mates will get some stellar contracts out of it, just as they did so during the pandemic when our elderly relatives were dropping dead. Despicable. 'They work for us'. Yeah, right.

Your recollection of events is a little off with mine.

The only leavers who pushed the 'leaving EU isn't about immigration' where the official campaign led by Dominic Cummings. It's well known that they deliberately chose to push the secondary reason for leaving which was 'taking back control' over the primary one of immigration to maximise the leave vote amongst the 'independents'....or those that were frightened of the 'racism' tactics employed by many remainers.

They left the 'immigration' angle to Farage and the unofficial leave campaigns.

The reality was that most people who voted leave did so because of 'freedom of movement'....this isn't even contested really....even Cameron knew that it was the pivotal policy and begged Merkel to shift on it....which she wouldn't.

Wonderful woman.
