As well as us fans, I'm sure the management and the board will want him to do well. Its in everyone's interest. So we need to be To suggest he is better than Ayew is a bit ignorant. The guy is incredibly talented. The goal against west ham was special, and is testament to that. He obviously isn't a winger, but we are lucky that he does what is asked of him and puts in a shift. That aside PV will be seeing JRS every day in training, lets trust that he knows when and how to use him.

do you genuinely think Ayew is anywhere near good enough for our 1st team? Yes as a squad player. Since Andros has gone and Eze and Olisse injured he is clearly the best option ATM. Don't forget he was our player of the season a couple of years back.

Ayew and Benteke are both yesterdays news, Neiether god enough for the first team, never mind JRS, i would hope both to be offloaded in the January window, and the only way to find out if JRS is ready is if you play him, he might thrive he may not. It depends which Benteke you are talking about - the one that was banging in goals for fun when his contract was up or the one from the previous 2/3 seasons. He scored today. He came off the bench after 77 minutes to bag the last of 6 goals against Romania.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Great left foot and we've seen what he can do from free kicks. However, in open play I think he has a lot to learn. His awareness and concentration levels need a lot of work. Just my opinion, but I don't think he's close to being good enough for the first team.

What I'm watching with interest is whether we send him out on loan again in the January window. I'm guessing that much of what he has to learn will come from playing "man's" football in a context where every point is precious and mistakes are critical. Is there much for him to learn in the U23s which is not just age group football but football where the stakes are low. I can't think offhand of many successful loan spells for our lads in recent history. This is what Chelsea do so brilliantly - managing to blood their talent elsewhere. Guehi a prime example no? As much as anything I suspect it's finding the right club and the right manager to help bring him through.
