Sorry YT. Hadn't got to your post when I wrote my later one. Great minds as they say.

No worries. It happens. Great minds indeed!

Not sure he would. In Kante, Jorghino and mount they have one of the best CMs in world football. Thats before you even get to Kovacic, Pulisic.

A bit ridiculous really

Your probably right. When you see their midfield written down.

I still think, we will be priced out of a future transfer, if he plays well.

In all honesty - I think he was particularly driven to outperform Declan Rice.

I expect within the football circles Declan could end up at Chelsea and especially as it seems he is not signing an extension to his contract and wishes to move.

It’s just a hunch I got watching the game and observing little movements and glances during the game yesterday towards rice.

I think he had added motivation yesterday to play well and not let Rice dominate the midfield / game.

He was superb yesterday and last week was like a dog on heat, snapping at ankles when others normally stand away and wait for an off load. On another note, see Wardy run back and clear the goal line, thats his trademark, well played sir! And while i"m at it, Benny boy supplying the assist for our first goal with a well placed nod down, perfect pass, it wasn"t a misplaced goal effort before some say it was, I checked on motd last night, has to be said!

We should just enjoy the season he has with us.

If he turns out to be a star player we won't be able to afford him.

We have some exciting championship buys to hope for when they eventually come back from injuries.

And we need to hope that Saki and Banks progress this season.

I've never known the club to have such a rich vein of upcoming talent.

Eek! The team of the 20s.

He can play, hope yesterday was the start of great things for him and us, even if only for a season. Went to the same school as Johnny Byrne.

Personally, I think Rak-Sakyi is a better bet, especially as he is one of ours. Take a look at the video highlights of the U23 game Friday against Everton. He really does look like a young Wilf

Playing for U23's is still a long way from PL standard CG has proved he can hack it at the higher level, if Rak-Sakyi is good enough he will be selected but clearly that time has not arrived yet!

Thanks Den, some real sense and perspective in your comments. Bit tired tbh of reading all the hype from some HOLERs re Banks and Hannam (both nowhere near PL standard yet) and JRS - who will be rather more soon, but needs to develop more physical presence.

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

I know Connor is only on loan, and we have only picked up 2 points, but I cant remember feeling as optimistic as I do now for ages.

We've got 2 young CBs that can pass and will only get better.

We've got Connor and Hughes that gives us some energy and intensity.

We've got Eze who oozes class and can produce magic

And Olise, who lit up the Championship last year and is still only 19.

another couple of signings and this team feels really exciting

Most probably, the fact that Zouma has gone for £30m shows now mad the game has got. But then I guess we paid Chelsea 20m for a CB who has never played in the first team.

I guess we just have to hope that he makes himself indispensable.

I think I remember reading something about the loan system in the UK changing next season. Hence why Chelsea are letting a lot of good young talent go. Hopefully that can work in our favour

Fully agree, some fans seems not to understand that you are not going to have a successful PL football based on talent from an academy out-put it unrealistic and it is not going to happen as the article below shows:-

''Business Insider UK spoke to Michael Calvin, author of the book "No Hunger in Paradise: The Players. The Journey. The Dream," about how children enrolled in academies have a very small chance of succeeding as professional footballers.

Here's a transcript of the video:

Academies of their very essence are a good idea. Get the best players, give them the best coaches in the best potential environment.

The problem is that the ills of senior football – greed, opportunism, the stockpiling of talent unnecessarily for commercial gain – are seeping down into junior football.

That's what's happening in the academies of the major clubs where boys are going in, they're sucked into the system. They're taken over by the dream.

But, realistically, all they would do is sit there and wait for a chance that will never come.

The statistics are really sobering. Out of all the boys who enter an academy at the age of 9, less than half of 1% make it. Or a make a living from the game either.

The most damning statistic of all is only 180 of the 1.5 million players who are playing organised youth football in England at any one time will make it as a Premier League pro.

That's a success rate of 0.012%.

Pretty much the sort of chances of you being hit by a meteorite on your way home.

Produced by Claudia Romeo. Filmed by David Ibekwe.''

He was so good today. My son was just saying stuff about no future at Chelsea and he’s a palace level player just before he scored that second. Wow. Not seen a player in box with three around him and use both feet to dummy and score in a while! Wonderful 😃

I'm not so sure about that. Chelsea don't possess a player with so much energy and work rate as Conor. Yes they press up high and close down (well Mount does) but Conor can do the lot. A proper box to box player added with high technique and skill. An unbelievable player. So glad we have him even if it is only for one season!
