The 'falling asleep' bit puzzles me - all the trams work on a 'dead man's handle' system, so if he dozed off, even for a couple of seconds he would have relaxed his pressure on the handle and the tram should have slowed, not accelerated. A stairway to Heaven and a Highway to Hell give some indication of expected traffic numbers

Tbh something ain’t right in this. It looks like a cover up for the driver to tfl and all in between. The geezer was speeding end of imho.
