Exactly. Still, the news headline after the Denmark game was "it's more than football, it's bringing the country together"

Well that didn't last long did it? Lot's of racist abuse, fighting at Wembley between hundreds of ticketless 'fans' and the police and now endless talk about racism, bla, bla, bla.

No other nation in the tournament ever said that i was "more than football" and quite rightly so. It's a game of football, end of story. The real problem is that England (at least out of the UK) has no culture of 'passion' in anything', only one of 'aggression' compared to the other continental European nations.

You are the only poster on here I feel actual genuine pity for.

Because your life never worked out for you, you appear very bitter towards your home country. I'm guessing you were not a hit with ladies or a success at work. It sounds like you didn't have much of a social life either, the way you despise the English.

What happened for you to get so bitter? was a it a divorce?

Its a genuine real shame for you and I hope you can find some happiness Orange.

Extra time should be played by the WAGs, and preferably topless.

Haha. At least we'd get something out of it even if we lost.

Yes, really, so now you are a psychologist? Funny, no problems here it's really that you can't accept the facts that probably encompass people like yourself. You need to be ashamed of yourself for posting such drivel just to say you posted something. By doing so you're condoning the fighting and racism seen since yesterday rather than admitting that, yes there's a problem in your country rather than denying what's clearly there. Are you part of this horrible problem that the UK is well knowN for?

Not at all, it comes from living in 8 other European countries as well as the UK. Still, I didn't expect you to agree with anything anyway, so no surprises there. Lists of classic writers, poets, musicians etc can be produced for any European country. Look at the Italians last night in the UK and in Italy (and many other countries), celebrating with passion, no violence, no excessive drinking, no racism, just having fun, something England fans (and in fact lots beyond football) simply don't and never have had a culture for. It's always aggression, conflict, violence almost like they have an inferiority complex and can't do anything about it.

The only 'fans' to boo the oppositions national anthems and often players when they had the ball were England 'fans'. What's wrong with them? They seem to have some very deep rooted mental issues that are specific to them.

I know its cherry picking season but you've a truck load there.

You either have little knowledge of European history or are just trolling.

Maybe both.

And you definitely have it in for the British.

At the end of the day, the UK are serial losers.

It doesn't do us any good.

As depressing and inevitable it was when our players lost on pens, the racist abuse is still the behaviour of a small and sad minority. Most see it for what it is and would defend players against it any day of the week. On top of that, much like how foreign nations put their oar in online during elections, it wouldn't surprise me if they aren't stirring the cultural pot a times like this too. It would be so easy.

Same with the fighting at Wembley, sure it's pretty pathetic, but 30 million+ watched this match, so the actions of a couple of hundred people should not been seen as a reflection on them. We have a clear passion for football in this country, at club and national level it means an awful lot to people and very few approach this passion with any level of aggression at all. Where I think we can be faulted is that we're always very all or nothing in our outlook, England are hopeless one minute, world beaters the next to us, making playing a bit of a thankless task when the wheels eventually come off (as they do for all but one team in any knock out tournament of course).

Several other European nations have just the same problems, or worse on occasion. In our tabloid culture though it's just always and only negatives that are highlighted, and a bleak picture painted. The wider story of what this tournament means to the fans is lost, which is a shame.

But the vast majority of England fans did do that. Out of the 30 million+ people tuning in, watching at the pub or lucky enough to be at the game, how many are you proposing were behaving this way? It's hardly representative. You're making it sound like the night was some kind of 'The Purge' style event.

Surely the fair way would be to count any yellow and red cards during the match, if its level after that then a countback of all the yellow and reds during the tournament.

Would stop the cynical play at times.

Only negative would be if a team is well ahead of the card count then the opposing team could simply play for a draw and make for a dull final.

Oh I don't know lol...

Sounds like a good idea.

Would give a genuine cost to fouling.

Added time multi-ball? Hugs for all and joint-ownership of the trophy at the end of the tournament? Going straight to penalties after 90 mins would be the sensible option, but really there's nothing wrong with the system as is, we just need to get better at penalties.

Or make sure we avoid them altogether . Always such a gut wrenching way to go out.
