Don't know what to think. Heard Abraham did well on Roma debut but think he's already played a lot more games than Nketiah. He's certainly young, not too sure about his physicality or skill. Off the top of my head, he can play wide if necessary but is a striker. Probably better than Mateta and would push Benteke for his place. I think wide men are our main issue. 20 mil is too much but 10 mil sounds OK. I guess we could include future add ons, like goals scored and league appearances etc. That would protect us somewhat if he was crap.

IMO this would be yet another striker mistake, not proven, young, and inexperienced. My question is do we have time to wait? If he was any good Arsenal would be playing him as they are short up front. Please SP not another diaster striker on our books

If he was not at a 'big' club (not quite sure Arsenal can be called that these days) no one would even be considering him. Arsenal claiming he's worth 20m is laughable especially as his contract runs out next season and he's only scored 5 premier league goals. Maybe a loan would be ok as he's at least a different type of striker to what we have but even then I'd rather we use the loan for someone who'd make a bigger impact. Happy to be proven wrong if he does come to us though...the fact that he's currently injured makes it highly likely he will sign for us and make his debut sometime in 2025 Edited by samprior (23 Aug 2021 10.38pm) Edited by samprior (23 Aug 2021 10.39pm)

As far as I'm aware, there have only been 2 ' proven ' scorers at Premier League level recently available. Tammy Abraham was out of our budget in terms of fee and wages. Danny Ings would probably view moving to us as a sideways move and I suspect he's on big money at Villa. Who else is there ? Have I forgotten anyone ?

Really hope this one falls through. Very lightweight forward with no proper run at 1st team football. Record at U21’s level is excellent but that level of football is a world away from the premier league, He is another Rhian Brewster. Price tag generated by the fact they’ve had a few substitute appearances for an apparent big 6 club. Edouard would be similar price and far better option IMO.

Is he just a younger version of Ayew in which case where would he play and why would we need him??
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

No, he's nothing like Ayew. IMO offers us something different, he's willing to run in behind, make runs to the near post. Looking at him in the U21s, I could see him linking up well with Connor (and Exe when fit). Cant see us playing 2 up top, so I guess he would either be a plan B, or could play as part of a front 3. Sure he'd do better there than Ayew. If we can get him for somewhere in and around the 10m mark I think its a risk worth taking. The guy has clearly got quality, and likely just blocked from much first team action as Arsenal actually have a couple of decent centre forwards

The price (£20 million) is a joke but at half that, I'd snap him up in a minute. He's the sort of fox-in-the-box forward we haven't had since AJ (unless you count Dwight Gayle) and at a minimum, he's shown genuine promise (particularly in England age-group teams). How good he turns out to be is an unknown because he's really never had a proper run of games anywhere but players of his sort can rapidly and dramatically increase in value if they come anywhere near to living up to expectations. He'd give us something different that's well worth the risk (at the right price) given the dearth of alternatives.

I know many fans were disappointed we didn't fight to get Armstrong but Southampton were always going to gazump us had we bid higher than we did IMO. After all they had the Ings money burning their pockets.

PALACE, ARSENAL APART ON NKETIAH Crystal Palace and Arsenal remain apart on their valuation of striker Eddie Nketiah, reports The Athletic. Palace are willing to pay £10million for the England U21 international but the Gunners are holding out for closer to £20m.
