The difference here is that it's not a fictional character in a made up drama - it's a drama portraying a real historical figure. She was white, and cannot, given the well recorded history of the Tudors, then and thereafter, be portrayed as anything else with any credibility. It's as unbelievable (even within the suspension of reality that all dram requires) as a white man playing Nelson Mandela or Desmond Tutu in a drama about apartheid.

No, Aretha Boleyn, not Ann, was a coloured lady. I know, as I was often in court when she sang gospel music. Henry hated it and they had to chop her head off to get some peace. When I tell people this, a lot of them just don't believe it.

She may well be a very good Boleyn, but the wrong skin tone, When James Corden played a gay man there was a outcry from the gay community, so us and them thing, if the complete cast was black maybe that would make it interesting , because there is alot of good actors and actress that are black, but to make one person no not for me

I’d like to see Lawrence Fox play Sadiq Khan. Dawn French play Diane Abbott. Both are worth a laugh.

C5 are a private company and can show what they want, within the remit of the broadcasting rules. And we can make a choice not to watch it, based on whatever criteria we want. Nice and simple. I choose not to watch it because I think its f***ing ludicrous casting. C'est la vie.
