It HAS been worse. The countries who pay for it get an automatic entry hence we're in it every year. I'd rather not pay for any of it. Exactly I think we are one of the biggest contributors. The BBC should reduce our spending down so we go through the knockout stage maybe that will focus their minds on picking a decent song.

Given how unpopular the UK is in Europe since Brexit its hardly surprising that no one voted for us, maybe now would be a good time to withdraw from this pointless competition.

What galls me is that I keep hearing that "Eurovision has never been more popular....record global TV audience...blah, blah..." In which case, why the feck does the BBC have to keep funding it? Why can't all the other countries pay their full share? Why can't it be self-sufficient?

I think the "you cannot vote for the UK" message was flashed up on TV screens across Europe.

I really believe that if the BBC reduced it's funding so we had to go through the semi finals people would still watch. But the beeb likes to throw our money around, look at the Olympics and the World Cup. As part of the bid process the host has to provide a TV studio for each major broadcaster. The BBC however always insists on building it's own at our expense of course. Why? Do the other TV stations not have pundits and talking heads?

Eurovision is a laugh for some and I'm all for that. You can't take it seriously because politics obviously gets in the way of who votes what.....and besides a good song on Eurovision is pretty unlikely. I haven't watched it since Wogan stopped.....because he made it. Edited by Stirlingsays (23 May 2021 1.06pm)

I like a bit of rock but the winning song was a pile of crap. If we want the European to take us seriously then we need to be more serious about the artists we send to represent us. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (23 May 2021 12.47am) Entirely agree. Finland was better.
