It does make you wonder where technology and AI will eventually lead us. Every amazing new technology and advancement that is 'benign' and 'convenient', ends up with an unnerving malignant and inconvenient accompanying poison pill. All signed sealed and delivered by corporate and political elites. As technology marches on, peoples options, finances and usefulness may well be moving in the opposite direction. Even in today's world and without additional advancements, people are turned against protests for instance (granted in the moment there is a degree of sense to that, but with the Bristol situation, we see that its a 'useful' time to make long term adjustments to both law and thinking) and yet at the same time there has been decades of intentional manipulation of the housing market (by whatever means necessary by our landlord heavy government representatives) which mean couples need to both slave away for their entire lives to even own the roof over the heads. So life is really already a case of limits and put up and shut up for most anyway. I don't think people realise the impact of these mechanisms on their lives, choices and even relationships. A rigged game that will only become more so. And so looking to the future, I can only imagine that more and more of peoples lives will be chiseled away at, or managed and manipulated in such a way that any real choice or freedom will fade away. Maybe the disappearing into the woods types aren't so crazy after all! Edited by BlueJay (01 Apr 2021 1.12am)

I’m not talking about now. Automation and AI will eventually take care of most high volume low level, low paid jobs. At that point all you’re left with are people managing said automation and AI, and developing it. More specialist roles for the Well educated, well off. Plus the tech industry pulling all the strings for the government as they dole out universal credit checks en masse each month. Dependency will become the norm. But we are in the now and because its seen as a future problem by us minions it is also seen by the non minions. We aren't quite in WALL-E territory yet

Two books I’d highly recommend reading around AI and automation are ‘Our final invention’ [Link] and ‘Superintelligence’ [Link] Will contextualise the whole thing for you and make it feel less intangible and ‘not in my lifetime’.
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

In many ways the traditional financial system finally died in 2008 and all that's happened has been life support and a denial of reality since then. However, this pandemic, in my view, has hastened the termination of the life support and we are entering a new system and relationship between state and individual. Those who spent a long term calling this reset a conspiracy theory in reality they just have their heads in the sand. They want to get lost in the weeds over motives and terminology but really all that matters is what actually happens. The value of our currencies has been inflated away over decades and they will move to a completely controlled digital system where the state will give themselves far more power over your financial independence. Technology is allowing for far more control over people's lives and that's going to be slowly inched towards and enforced with the normie being the frog in the heated water. Anyone else have thoughts over how things will change. Explain that first paragraph please. And no swearing now you’re on a yellow.

He then tosses out right-wing insults as though that somehow diminishes them, although he reserves his most venomous comments for just a couple of us. It's both pathetic and quite amusing.

What a coincidence. That is just how I see you. Still, you do fulfil the role of court jester very well, so keep up the good work Taillefer.

You don't half spout a load of codswallop, don't you? In your first post you complain about people who consider these changes a conspiracy theory then in this one you post an obvious conspiracy theory. The State isn't looking to control as much of our lives as possible. That they are, and will continue to be, more involved is true, but that's not because there is some devious secret plan. It's just the way things are developing. It's a consequence and not a reason. The whole world is changing faster than ever before, and we cannot isolate ourselves. China has become more powerful as she was always destined to. Accepting reality and then working within its confines isn't a choice. It's the only option available. Whilst automation will certainly continue to replace some jobs there are many more that cannot be. There is certainly the opportunity for self-reliance if people have the capacity to handle it. Living simply is possible. You just need the right mind set, be fit and well and possess sufficient determination. There are bigger problems than economics going forward. When the ability of the planet to sustain life is in question then a reassessment of priorities seems a wise move. Conspiracy theory? It is hiding in plain sight - look at the WEF website I think we are approaching the end game with regard to the CV - all the fear mongering that has scared the majority of the population witless has been, in my opinion, to bring in the domestic digital passport and CCP social credit score. I am astounded that more people are not worried about what this will bring and are sleepwalking into a dystopian future.
