Kouyate in at the back because Kelly is not up to full match speed yet, and Cahill sadly not able to get up to full match speed possibly ever again. Never the quickest, legs have gone and slows everything down when in possession. Bench option at best.

But isolating and assessing each CB individual contributions across their playing time this season relative to each other, well then yeah I would agree with others and say that Kouyate has been for us this season in that CB position.

Oh dear ... I'm surprised Roy hasn't got Butland playing on the wing and brought in the old peanut lady to lead our attack. How long should we give it before switching over to watch repeats of Fools and Donkeys?

So what happens if we lose milli or Jairo. Or even worse still, both through injury during the match? Should have gone 4-1-4-1 and kept one on the bench.

Looking at the bench it's tough to see what else Roy can do. I'd prefer Mitchell to PvA, and whilst I think kouyate would improve our central midfield, I think Roy uses him in defence to add a bit of mobility we wouldn't have otherwise. Introducing Mateta more gradually seems sensible, I'm sure he'll come on at some point. At the risk of getting shot at, I'd probably go for Townsend ahead of Ayew on the right. Townsend is a very average player overall, but Ayew just doesn't see forward passes or put crosses in. He's a hard working, occasionally skilfull individualistic player, and that doesn't equate to a good supply line for the front two. Does anyone know if there is a valid Covid reason why some of the u23,s and or u18,s are not considered/included on the bench..?? Or is just Roy not giving any consideration and/or chance to youth even as today it means going with 2 less on the bench. Just seems other teams include youth players and we don’t, even when we have 9 of the first team squad out injured. COYP

2 donkeys on top in 4-4-2 - hope for 1 point, but very pessimistic
