I can't agree he took Goldberg for a ride. Goldberg was a more than willing buyer and Noades was getting on a bit. No one forced Goldberg to buy the club. No one made him pay Venables a fortune just to attend a meeting, Goldberg did it all himself. He made a lot of money very quickly - lots of folks did in those days and he thought running the club would be just as easy. It amazes me how sometimes when people indulge their dreams sanity goes out of the window. I don't blame Noades he was a businessman and he ran the club as a business, something the two subsequent chairmen failed to do. As for the ground, as others said it made sense at the time. I don't blame him for keeping it but remember when Jordan told everyone just how clever he was buying it back when basically he had helped it pass from Noades to a property developer.
