When you can guide a squad costing under £150 million to beating teams costing over £600 million sharing the points with teams costing as Arsenal did £454million, or Spurs, £385million. Leicester a weakened side on the day but still an expensive squad. You must be doing something right. That list in general shows you get what you pay for , that’s if you are not Arsenal. Or even Wolves and Newcastle.. We've had a pretty targeted approach to improving our weakest position since CPFC2010 took over. Arsenal have a huge imbalance. Other teams, Newcastle, West Ham, Brighton, have spent money badly. The call from many to just give Roy more money isn't a sensible course of action. We've just given him £20m to spend on a fantastic player who's yet to play in his preferred position.

Without major investment, hardly likely to change in the short term. I’m not even sure I want to change the way we play, I just want to find some players who can pass the ball to players with the same shirt on. It can’t be too much to ask at this level surely? If you have to fork out £25m in each position to be able to do this then football truly has gone mad. I’m not sure about major investment, I reckon a prudent manager could find 4 or 5 decent players at the right price that could transform this team.

I just think they don't want to sit through 90 minutes every single week of 11 men behind the ball at all times.

His best position is behind the striker in a Puncheon role. It's widely documented, and would mean he'd not have to do as many defensive duties. That would allow Wilf and Townsend on the wings, delivering for CB. The 3 players behind the striker would be interchangeable which would be a nightmare for defenders. With Eze and Zaha latching on to lay-offs from Benteke but also able to drop back when required. Eze isn't really a winger. Zaha isn't really a striker.

I think what he is saying is that with Eze in the 10 role, Zaha would effectively revert to left midfield/wing rather than Eze. However, neither are defenders which then raises the question when fit of having Schlupp left midfield and Zaha/Eze in free roles up top and Benteke dropped. That would be interesting but we would not have a target man.

I don't think Fulham played too bad under Roy, and West Brom played better under him then they did for Pulis. When we had Cabaye and an in-form Loftus Cheek we played good stuff, we bought in few half decent sticking plasters like Ayew and McCarthy but they are starting to peel off a bit. Maybe when he looks at the opposition his first thought is how to stop them, but the team does look vulnerable when there's too big a gap between defence and midfield, so we play deep and tightly packed and mainly on the counter, the personnel we have is what mainly dictates how we have to play to secure points. Even with a different manager it probably wouldn't be much prettier and we might have less points.

I don't think we have the players to counter attack with pace the way we used to.
