This rumour has certainly been the catalyst for debate!
Perhaps I should instigate a rumour asserting that 'Glenn Murray' is on our radar.

I would suggest that the source of this unlikely rumour is the players agent.

A great deal of rumours during the 'Transfer Window' with many way off the mark.
Gayle is 31 this year and has been found wanting in the PL.

I cannot see Gayle being the answer to our striker problems unless of course Parish is planning for a return to the championship!

There is an irony that we sold Gayle as he did not fit into the system we wanted to play and now we are being linked with him due to us not having a striker who suits the way we play.

But in reality I think this would be an underwhelming backwards step.

It's certainly not a long term solution, but on a free for a short term contract it could work well for both parties.

Sadly its not worked this time around for Batman and we keep pinning our hopes on Benteke but he doesn't score. Ayew did well last season but 9 goals isn't really enough. I don't think there's much for us to lose here.

There is no such thing as a 'Free transfer'.

i like Gayle but not now.

Too old and has failed to improve at Prem level. His movement is average and whilst he can definitely score in the box less chances created = less goals.

If he can't get in the Newcastle team that says it all

He is on 40,000 at Newcastle. No reason for him to leave in Jan for less than that. Would almost certainly want at least a contract until the end of next season which makes it `worth` 2.8 Mill.

I'd rather 2.8 mill is used to contribute towards wages/fee of someone with more potential.

You love a stat, Willo. Please will you find goals per minute rather than goal per game. I believe this season it is 1 goal in 4 appearances, or 1 goal in 61 minutes. One stat is far more impressive than the other and the latter is a fairer reflection of his goal scoring prowess.

I’d hazard a guess that his goals per minute is right up there with the big names.

He was one in three for us.

Not sure ever seen a batter finisher for us. Trouble is that's all he does. We dont have the supply lines to feed him.

Wolves wasted loads of chances against us on Friday. If that were our regular issue maybe Gayle.

It isn't.

So no.

I’d rather 2.8 million go towards new toilets and better catering in the Arthur Wait than buy back Gayle to sit in our reserves.
