I've spent the best part of the last 20 years working in and around Africa, particularly West Africa. Lived for 12 years in Nigeria. At one point we had a 3 person Eagles fan club in our local expat pub in Lagos. Believe me that's a lot of Eagles in one place in Africa; usually they are glory hunting Chelsea or MU fans lol

I'm more bothered about the lyrics of "Do they know its Christmas" and the 80's-esque ignorance of Africa; e.g.: "Where the only water flowing, erm... except for the Niger, Congo, Nile and several other major bodies of water.... and the frickin rainy season where it literally doesn't stop raining for 4 months of the year... ok, yes so the Ethiopia famine of 1984 was terrible, but I hate how this song gets rolled out every time a dumb-ass popstar decides they 'have to give something back to African kids'....

White saviour complex. Still, the money was far more important.....but was it used to actually help? Never found out.
