I completely agree with the thrust of Dan H's posts. The Government, with Boris at it's helm, are now having to live with the consequences of their approach on so many things - Brexit, Covid, School Meals etc - and all that emerges is chaos and confusion which gets worse as each day passes.
I have historically been a Conservative supporter, especially of PM's with the style/vision of Major and Cameron. By contrast, I could not bring myself to support the current crew - it's hard to think of a credible/competent member of the Cabinet let alone the overall leadership.
As an aside, I suspect Biden played Boris and his ego like a kipper. Get his inermost thoughts re Brexit first, lay down his perspective vis a vis Ireland and other matters and then relay the gist of that conversation to the other key EU leaders!

Depends. Biden will be taking the US back to war as soon as possible. That is why he is where he is now. A return to 'normality'. Why they threw everything at getting rid of Trump because he did not piss about. Wiped out IS rather than leave it in place to become a permanent excuse of buying more bombs and missles.

The US likes having the UK along for the ride on its military adventures. Not for any actual military advantage because outside of our special forces, which offer perhaps a different option to those of the US for a variety of reasons, and our intelligence services which still carry some weight, the US can handle any kind of conflict on its own.

But with the Brits along, it offers the US political cover along with another vote on the UN security council. Ignore too much hype about Biden and the EU. There is not much love lost on a variety of levels and I suspect that almost all US politicians, from accross the board, shared much of Trumps disdain for NATO and with good reason as Europe rides to much on US shirt tails for its own protection. Germany in particular is a disgrace on this level.

As for the Irish stuff? Do me a favour. Makes for good domestic fluff but in the real world? The Republic of Ireland relys on the UK to protect its own airspace. Barely worthy of a mention in terms of the wider global picture.

Does anyone know what Carrie Symonds' official post in the government is? Its being reported that it was her who blocked Cain's promotion to Chief of Staff.

As Cummings and Cain are close friends you do wonder how this is going to affect Johnson's relationship with Mr Eye Test.

The initial lockdown should have been earlier. Once that didn't happen Covid had already taken hold and it was too late.

Since then it has been vague messaging and constant changing of position. The public were on board at the beginning but the constant flip flopping and Dominic Cummings totally undermined any confidence and eroded any will to do the right thing.

If they had managed to implement an effective track and trace programme we wouldn't be where we are either. Instead they outsourced it to a mate for £12 billion and it still doesn't work properly.

British people haven’t been listening for months. British people only give a sh*t about themselves.

Sound familiar?

Also true. The British people stopped listening after Cummings stayed on. And British people are selfish compared to other cultures.

The government are also a sh*tshow.

The two things aren’t mutually exclusive.

Carrie Symonds doesn't have a position as such, because she is the actual government.

I'm surprised people don't know this.

Maybe not but we’re obviously less selfish than Belgium, Peru, Spain, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Mexico who have higher per capita death rates. Obviously they took their lead from Dominic Cummings as well.

If her roles is anything like it being claimed then it is beyond shocking. How can somebody go from being the next chief of staff to resigning two days later? Something is very, very amiss in number 10 at the moment.

Go for it. Boris won’t mind - he’s usually keen to outsource his own affections.

Where I live has been in tier one territory during the entire pandemic.

How about rather you're just a bit of a ham Dan.....that's far more realistic than your generalization of the entire 'British people'.

Still going with that guff?
No. People who irrationally hate the Tories used it as an excuse to do what they liked. The rest of us realised that it was of little importance and moved on.
