Wayne Rooney has just been sacked by Birmingham.

He took over from John Eustace who was doing fine but I guess the foreign based owners got greedy and wanted a big name.

So to answer the OP I nominate the holy trinity of Lampard Rooney and Gerrard (soon to be an ex manager).

Please god none of them come near our club.

Birmingham were 6th after 11 games when Eustace was surprisingly shown the door.
It would seem that the owners were looking globally and appointed a manager who was high-profile and well known on the world stage.

Big name players, recently retired from playing......almost invariably make shyte managers.

And conversely some of the greatest managers were either shyte players or never played foorball at all.

I predict Wayne Rooney will never amount to a manager worthy of League 2 or higher. And only a madman would appoint Roy Keane to manage a coffee shop wagon.

Brian Clough who said when asked what makes a good manager

"Being out of the game injured for long periods and retiring early helped me become one , the best managers are those that have spent a while watching the game rather than those who have spent far too long playing it"

Bit of a short-sighted comment.

Productivity wise it may not yield great results but the entertainment value there would be through the roof!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Realistically, wouldn't that be the directors' call? But it sure hasn't worked and was always likely to cause exactly this.

Actually I understand why he did it.

He wanted to give Liverpool as much time as possible to recruit his successor.

The news that Liverpool were on the lookout would inevitably have been leaked. So better to get it out in the open rather than enduring speculation and uncertainty.

Salah's form has been off for a while. I doubt if he would pick an argument with Klopp if Klopp was staying.

PSG just crashed out of the Champions league.

Reported on tv to have spent two billion Euro in recent years.

Borussia Dortmund have a budget more akin to Crystal Palace than Buckingham Palace. And if we could win at Anfield, then even we could have gone to Paris tonight and pulled their pants down.

massive budget, no European silverware, managerial incompetence

The French league is weak, if players are not tested at the highest level each week they may not step up when it matters.

PSG's owners have been trying to win the CL since 2017 and their failure is pretty spectacular. Sure they win their own league each season bu then so do Celtic or Rangers.

correct. Which is precisely what the pundits said. Man City play top teams every week, forcing them to be disciplined and sharp. PSG mostly play easy games against the likes of Nantes. Allowing PSG to get lazy and develop some bad habits.

A big fish in a small pond- and a fancy big stadium. With as much hope of ever winning the CL as Staeua Bucharest.
