Look how long it's been.....I can't help but think that people are being allowed to move on and leave before any real censor can be made......because it's highly likely that this is the responsibility of the top Police management and the political levels that rule over the Police.

I suspect that this has little to do with Police on the streets dealing with situations and more to do with policy.....policy that these people thought was actually protecting them.....even though over decades it threw vulnerable, unprotected young, sometimes underaged girls to the wolves.

All I can say is ‘wow’ to some of the comments and statements on the previous pages.

I’m a Deputy Head and it is nothing new regarding White Working class boys underperforming.

They have been a target group for around 15 years in inner city schools in terms of interventions to help raise performance.

Within education it’s nothing new, the way it’s reported tends to make people uncomfortable and angry.

The problem with white working class boys and black African Caribbean boys is underpinned by similar problems.

No positive role model figure
Low income
Lack of opportunities
Low self esteem
Lack of identity

People tend to react and respond in ways which tend to be over emotional to what the media puts out!

the biggest correlate for juvenile delinquency & educational failure is kids growing up without a dad.

some of these kids get away with such a disadvantage in life, many do not.

I largely agree with Nubes about the causes of under performance in education, but on the wider subject of White privilege, I would say that those people who supposedly have privilege have earned it or seized it one way or another.
White people are 10% of the world population, so you have to ask yourself why the 90% haven't done better.

White privilege is more accurately non-White envy, if we must use such terms.

Maybe they do but there is also a reality/perception that there is very little actually done for white working class boys. Now to be fair, I suspect much of the brow-beating about the educational problems of Afro-Caribbean lads is clearly ineffectual and more about virtue signalling than any genuine concern but in a post-Brexit UK when labour shortages are clearly going to be an issue, it becomes in the national interest to ensure that as many kids as possible leave school equipped to work.

I have always believed that if a nation is willing to 'lend' somebody upwards of £30,000 to get a degree in almost anything, then a similar scheme to fund trade apprenticeships, at a lot less cost, should be a no brainer but I suspect the kind of kids we are talking about might even struggle to complete those.

I once heard a pretty full on Black Power type talk about what he wanted to do which was to have a scheme where by a Black kid could be removed from the education system and tutored, one on one, 24/7 in a location far away from where they came from. A pretty radical idea but I would guess, in the long run, potentially much more beneficial to the wider society. And no reason this could not apply to poor white lads as well.
