You can’t hold onto players hoping they will come good. I’m more pi55ed about us letting Murray go when he still had about 4 years of goal scoring left in him.

I heard that it was because Pardew didn't like anyone else's opinion in the dressing room and just wanted 'yes' men, and that was the reason that Murray was shown the door. It may be cobblers, but if true then it was a terrible reason to get rid, and about sums up Pardew's ego from what I've heard.

We got a decent price for Sorloth, which I could barely believe. Someone thought there was a player in there somewhere. It's only taken several clubs, managers and years to find that player. We wouldn't have had the time.

Someone on here once described our club as the graveyard of the striker. I imagine Doogie, AJ and Clinton may take issue with that. But there are so many who have scored for fun and then dried up the moment they put on a Palace shirt.

The club has had a type when picking strikers i.e. big and lacking in movement. Maybe next time we might go down a different route, who knows. Sorloth was a Hodgson choice based on info he got from a friend (some bigwig in Scandinavian football). He looked like a human wall, but he ran like one too. It's amazing that (I think) we actually turned a profit on him.

Certainly up there Alan Pardew's without any doubt considering his policy of outscoring the opposition, Sorloth is the same as 99% of all players who eventually make it, look at Ian Wtight and now Eze ..long list of clubs who had them and then spat them out.

I watched the Norway v Georgia match in the last round of internationals. Sorloth played and scored but in my opinion is still much the same player we saw at Palace. Predominantly left footed worked hard and looked tidy. He scored but also missed some reasonable chances. Feel he could do well at championship level but i don't see him as a premier league level striker.
