On the basis that somehow we didn't sell anyone, including specifically Wilf, then adding Eze or Deulofeu for 20/25m and getting someone like Bats on loan would probably be enough to see us safe again, as defensively we are pretty sorted (especially with some new fresh legs at right back and Mitchell stepping up at the end of the season). I really can't see Wilf still being here though (or Deulofeu tbh!)

Mate we need some new CM badly ours are old slow and cant pass a football. If we get a midfield 3 of gallagher McCarthey and Eze as a CAM were golden. Watkins outside Edouard up top and Ayew on the right with overlapping full backs that's a good side.

I think Riedewald might get more game time next season and he can certainly pass a ball. His cameos showed he is composed too and did a good job of picking the ball up from defence and moving it forward. My bigger point would be that if we only had 30m our attacking positions surely have to be the priority (as they don't come cheap) and we don't have room in the squad for more central midfielders unless we sell one or two. This is all working on the basis that we can't sell anyone of course.

Agree, Jairo should be played more next season and top priority is a striker.

Only real frees that are relatively realistic and worth a punt on are probably Lallana, Angel Gomes, Ryan Fraser and depending on a medical, Mario Gotze.

If we sold Zaha, I'd like us to look at Calving Stengs and Ricardo Horta.

If we did have some money then we should be looking at any of these three from Salzburg:

Dominik Szoboszlai, Sekou Koita and Patson Daka. They are all going to be some serious players I reckon.

Haha that's the level of commitment I have to hating Brighton, I ignore them to the point of not having a clue what they are up to!

I would try to have a pick of the Championship and secure players that we could realistically attract. I will note a suggested fee, but clearly it is all fantasy guess work (which I do enjoy).

INS:

Player : Karlan Grant

Club : Huddersfield Town

Suggested Fee : £12.5M

Age : 21

Reason : He is the third highest scorer in the championship with 19 goals and 4 assists, that has played in a team that has struggled. I think they picked him up from Charlton the year they went down in the January, so he has has 4-5 months at PL level. I would suggest it would be low risk due to his age and ability to score goals at a lower level if we did go down. Quick and can play wide of a 3 or mainly through the middle.

Player : Ruben Loftus-Cheek *

Club : Chelsea

Suggested Fee : £25M

Age : 24

Reason : I don't think this needs any reason. A top player for us a few years back and I think we could somehow negotiate a deal for a Wilf + cash deal, if they want Wilf of course. One we can dream on a little and unlikely, but something we've missed in what was probably our best season.

Player : Ryan Fraser

Club : Free Agent

Suggested Fee : £0M (Wages £90k)

Age : 26

Reason : Free and we lack depth. No more explanation needed on this one. Hope this is one we can realistically go for.

Player : Will Hughes

Club : Watford

Suggested Fee : £15M

Age : 25

Reason : A tidy player that I have always liked and can play wide, across midfield and someone I associate with replacing Jimmy Mac or that type of player for us.

TOTALS :

Ins :

Grant - £12.5M
RLC - £25M * (Based on Zaha sale)
Fraser - £0M
Hughes - £15M
Ferguson - £4M

Total = £56.5M

Outs :

Zaha - £45M *
Sakho - £5M
Townsend - £10M
Wickham - £3M
Benteke - £8M
Meyer - £6.5M

Total = £77.5M

Net = + £21M

Ideal 20/21 matchday squad for me :

VG

Ferguson
Cahill
Tomkins
PVA

RLC
Hughes
Luka

Grant
Fraser
Ayew

Bench :

Hennessey (Yes I would keep him for the bench)
Ward
McArthur
Kouyate
Jario
Benteke
Schlupp

Missing out on the matchday squad :

McCarthy
Dann
Mitchell (I would loan him out and use Schlupp/Jairo as cover for another season)
Kelly

Crouch End Vampires - remember playing them in the 1980,s - not a great away trip, I was playing for West Wickham in the SAL (I think)...

Know the transfer window is extended but only 6 weeks until the season starts. Personally think it would be negative move to sell PVA he is one of our best attacking players! We can't afford the risk of losing him. Townsend has been very disappointing and has gone backwards and can't see Newcastle wanting to go for him anymore, especially as they are in a bit of a limbo over the new ownership so can't see them buying an older player and having to commit to him for a longer contract to entice him.

As for Tekkers nobody has ever seriously gone after him for as long as we have had him and after this season cant see that changing now.

Let's hope this is protracted as any instability anywhere with the bottom feeders will help us for September beyond the transfer window. My two-penneth (probably more than the budget) Watkins is a good shout and wish we had nabbed him at Xmas and then be looking elsewhere now. Grant is a good shout from the Championship as well.

Not financially powerful to buy those players from Salzburg. Szobolszai and Patson Daka are wanted by the likes of Barcelona.

But their youngster CSABA BUTKA is a free agent this summer. Remember that name!

@HerneBayPalace

So basically it would be Fraser having to replace Zaha, Will Hughes for Townsend as left footed winger, Grant for Benteke, RLC for Meyer and the defender Ferguson for Sakho.

I'm sorry but that doesn't seem like an improved squad. And anything less than improvement equals relegation. No way I'd sell Townsend for 9 million and buy Will Highes for 14, cause Townsend us an accomplished winger and Will Hughes is all-rounder, but not really good anywhere. Sure, he can play centrally too, but so can Townsend, who is faster and less injury prone.

And Fraser, though a good player, I doubt can replace someone like Zaha.
