I am quite happy for them to be guilty of manslaughter as murder implies premeditation. In fact they can be guilty of being a shopping trolley for all I care what matters is the sentence they get.

There are always degrees of any crime, a single punch in a bar is not the same as dragging a man for a mile in a speeding car.

I doubt it will happen but they should get 20 years.

There doesn't seem to be much by way of mitigation.

I can't think of a worse way to die, so it's unfortunate that how it occurred allowed for a degree of plausible deniability on their part.

You can get life imprisonment for manslaughter so it will come down to the bravery of the Judge.
Let us hope he is fearless on Monday!

The cops will be remembering the performance of this judge. And they will all be seeing him many times in the future.

I hope the cops have some friends amongst the Prison Wardens.

I suspect travellers aren’t particularly well liked amongst inmates. Although it was a Police Officer, the circumstances were horrendous, hope they enjoy the stay

i expect that in the prison, these travellers will almost get as much 'special treatment' as did Tommy Robinson.

Yep. Life is available as a sentence for manslaughter.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Hardly ever imposed and reading that link it says the average “life” sentence is 15 years. I’ve never been too sure how the two concepts of life and a fixed period can be reconciled.

to turn on a master electrical mains switch downstairs, and unknowingly kill an electrician who was working upstairs...... maybe that is manslaughter.

to deliberately drive a mile with a man screaming for his life while entangled in your vehicle is a deliberate killing.

Lock them up. Throw away the key.

Interesting. I can in part understand the manslaughter conviction due to how unusual the case was in some respects. Given the severity of what happened though they should be given the maximum sentence. That and the fact that they really don't seem to care about their crime or the impact of it.

No it isn't unless you grab the copper and tie him to the car first.

Correct verdict.

Life would be about right with 12 to 15 year tariffs.

It would be the right justice in a civilised country. And yes before you ask if I was his missus I would love to be served my favourite meal while watching them all being slowly roasted alive. Which is precisely why we have our objective system in place.
