Not really. Very early starts and pretty boring. Despite being let loose with a flamethrower.

Not sure I want to know about the flamethrower! I know the hours they work are long and the actual picking is back breaking work, Qudos to anyone willing to do it.
Having read this thread to my wife, she commented (jokingly) that she hoped you were not insinuating people from rural Essex May have webbed fingers . She did add that some of her Grandparents neighbours were borderline!

Very true although she does not count Rochford as Essex (London overspill!). She got out and now lives in relative “safety” in West Sussex

Good point. We could then start a war when other countries are in lock down. We have to be careful who we start on though. Perhaps somewhere nice, with a lot of room, and decent weather?

I always though the Maldives needed to be taught a lesson!

For her next job it has been suggested the best place to live is Woodham Ferrers. Oh the ignominy for a Croydon girl.

Safety first out there. Don’t shoot ‘til you see the whites of their socks.

You can't make people do anything but terms of the government scheme is that you can VOLUNTEER for work without penalty while you are furloughed. If crop harvesting is in the 'national interest' it could be promoted and potentially organised as such ... but no one in authority has bothered. The other problems are that no testing is available to reassure prospective workers and there's no overall plan to get people back to work.

More stories of workers in meat factories developing coronavirus:

America:
Nearly 5,000 workers infected by coronavirus.

Meat industry seen as source of most coronavirus hotspots.

Think the workers need protection as a lot are being asked to work in very risky conditions.
