I would think as well as directly around selhurst the majority of our supporters will come from the south side as it's always been the biggest club in the vicinity Throughout the forties, fifties and part of the sixties Charlton were bigger than us. They were Cup Finalists in 1946 and 1947, and they were in the top division from 1935 to 1957. In 1938 they had a gate of 75,000+. (I'm not Willo in disguise.)

I have been surprised at the number of our supporters in my 'neck of the woods' on the south coast, a 30 minute train journey from Brighton.I happen to know quite a few supporters some of whom were raised or lived in Warlingham,Crawley,West Wickham etc. In actual fact there are 2 drinking establishments in fairly close proximity to my abode whose owners are supporters of our club. Think I know who you are & get on train at Angmering Loadsa Palace around south coast I know lots of fans from Eastbourne, Hastings ,Worthing, Hove, Bexhill

Live in Storrington now (12 N of Worthing). My Dad took me in the early 60s. Can recall Johnny Byrne, Eddie Werge, Roy Summersby and a guy call Uphill whose shots invariably reflected his name. Sorry for the ramble.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

That’s something I’ve never understood, I grew up in Bromley, lived in South Norwood for a few years, local team blah blah, so I don’t get what draws these foreign supporters groups who haven’t that connection to a club. They meet up in pubs at strange hours to watch the games, okay it must be a good social thing, but why palace? Why not your local team? If you haven’t got that connection or that match day experience, actually being at the games, you’ve got nothing as far as I’m concerned, but I know times have changed and each to their own I suppose A lot of people just get attracted to the name, colours, a player from their area/nation, certain giant killing matches and also through other friends. Maybe the kit looks good... loadsa random reasons. Also the clubs pre season tours.

I am led to believe that Angmering station was awash with our supporters travelling to the Julian Speroni testimonial.

Brought up in Carshalton. Used to be several car loads of neighbours travel up to the fortnightly home games or we'd pile on to the 157 from the bottom of our road. That was around 50 years ago. Now live in Kent and as recently as 2016 (our run to the FA cup final) was astonished to see Tonbridge station packed out with the red and blue on our way to Wembley.

Grew up in Brixton. Loads of Chelsea in Brixton / Stockwell and my school in Battersea but didn't fancy it down there. Felt soulless, full of oddballs. Never fancied Millwall ... not my tribe at all. Proper Khazi of a stadium / area too ... And Palace had the best kit in the league bar none ... #bringbackthesash

Was brought up in West Kent in the late 80s early 90s, first match I went to Palace beat Man U 3 nil I think, to cement third place. Palace were a great team to watch, the ground was easy to get to, and they seemed destined for great things..............

Probably right. You’d have got good odds when the PL started in 92 that we’d currently be in our seventh straight year. Even better odds after watching us lose five nil at Wigan in the championship which was definitely the low point. Originally posted by ASCPFC
