Why do you believe that British people should tolerate the spread of a totally alien and pervasive culture in their country? Would you expect any other country to do likewise? We broadly welcome American culture when we see it as desirable. As with anything commercial, we vote with our money. Did we get a choice with Islam?

Apparently Americans....who are majority Europeans, many of whom emigrated from the British isles.....to him that's alien. The guy who moved to Germany. Edited by Stirlingsays (04 Feb 2020 4.48pm)

I have a fairly strong feeling that that may have been the product of invasion and indoctrination from abroad too... Your perception of how cultures interact and blend with each other is odd. There is no democratic say we get; it is a fluid transferral of customs and beliefs based on a hierarchy which itself is constantly in flux. At the present moment, America is at the top of that hierarchy. That's why we have their cholesterol soaring cuisine and Hollywood blockbusters. It's also why their companies have near frictionless access to all of your personal data, why they have veto rights on our nuclear submarine use, and why we have to hold the hand and suck the c*ck of whoever walks in to the oval office no matter how orange and demented they happen to be. Islam, I think it's fair to say, is somewhere near the bottom of the cultural hierarchy at the minute. Obviously that is in part because Islamic communities are among the poorest in the world, but it also stems from centuries of nomadic existences for many of their people. That's why India, the US, Myanmar, China, Israel and much of Europe have ligeslated explicitly anti-Muslim laws, and in a few instances, even genocide, in recent years. Add on top of that the consistent military interventions and it's not surprising that Islamic terrorism is quite high, just as Irish terrorism was high when they were under occupation, just like Polish terrorists against Russia in the 19th century, just like Catholic and Protestant terrorists throughout the 15th and 16th centuries in this country. So, basically, don't moan that you didn't get a say about everything that's happened around you. Try a new path: maybe go and get a falafel wrap. Or buy some beautiful Turkish carpets and have a chat with the owner. Or go volunteer at a homeless shelter they probably run in your local mosque. Forgiveness takes up less energy than hatred. You'll enjoy life more when you realise that.

Well spotted sir! Although I fully expected you to, The reference to the book burning in Berlin was the most exaggerated example of attempts at censorship and my cry would be against censorship, but equally go back say to Cromwell and the attempts to silence the emerging press, Liberal yes ok fair cop but equally pro free speech and anti censorship we may not agree politically but I would defend your right to say it and mine to disagree.(prefer amicably over a beer...)

Most Liberals don't defend anything, they deconstruct in the name of egalitarianism......Most of them nowadays don't even defend free speech (you do, which I respect) We share an dislike of censorship......As to other affects liberalism has had, it's been a disaster.....and imported terrorism is just one of those disasters. You'll enjoy life more when you realise that. What patronising and simple minded twaddle. People like you throw the word 'hatred' around like confetti until it has no meaning. Religious dogma has no place in the 21st century irrespective of origin. When a religion displays characteristics that go against the acceptable national societal norms then we have a problem. You draw a comparison between the relative influence of foreign commercial enterprise with religion but you fail to recognise that the significant connection is the rise of mass immigration to satisfy globalist greed. This is the great irony and the best trick 'the devil' played on the Left of politics. You obviously hate America like your type always do despite the fact that they have effectively prevented a world war for 75 years and have thrown a cloak of protection over Britain and Europe for that period. Did we choose Christianity? A good question. We had Christianity thrust upon us and over many years largely rejected the parts we don't like and retained those that still had relevance. It took those of the highest rank to prize us from the suffocating oppression of foreign Catholicism and most wise minded people do not want to sleepwalk back into an era where insane religious dogma once again is allowed to pervade and indoctrinate society through sheer numbers using fear, politics and religious fallacy.
