Strong families with whom they talk verbosely.

It's a good thing.

Agree with this. I worked with a cracking Asian lad at Croydon for 18 years.... We went to many elderly white British people over the years who lived alone and had either fallen over etc or died and been there weeks/months.

He used to say that was the one thing he found strange about British culture that we just leave our elderly to fend for themselves. Doesn't happen in his culture. They take there elderly in to live with them. Have to be honest I couldn't argue his view.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

They are managing their property portfolios and checking up on their shares. Don’t be fooled by their appearance of being disheveled and clueless. They are all loaded and have top of the range motors parked round the back of their shops.

I'm confused as to what is fair game on this forum and what isn't? That said all PC rules confuse me these days! Or are we allowed to call it PC anymore or is that a generalisation?

Whilst on the topic of shopkeepers however, am I the only one who feels like I get completely f***ed off for buying groceries in there whereas if I went in for 6 cans of special brew twice a day I'd get VIP treatmant?

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Does this happen to you when you visit an Asian corner shop ?

you stand at the cash till....12 o'clock in front of you.

and all through the transaction, there is an Asian man standing at 3pm or 4pm oblique angle behind you ....3 yards away , holding a brush with a removable head, ie. he is holding a fighting stick. While he observes you counting your change ?

if it is, then yes....you live in South London.

On a serious note I suspect the number of attacks on people who work in these places is quite high. It seems to be the go to place for the low life scum to thieve and rob so whilst I have never seen what you are describing I wouldn't blame any of them. Our corner shop provides a vital community service especially for the elderly who can't get about much so my sympathy is entirely with them.

I know our local Asian shopkeeper quite well and often linger for a bit of a chat . They actually don't make much on the groceries, they don't get the deals that the big supermarkets get .

The drink though is a different matter and they have a decent mark up on cans of beer and bottles of wine . A regular buyer of cans is their bread and butter and why you are their favourite customer .

And no he is never on his phone , more likely listening to Cricket on his radio

sorry, you missed my point. Asian shopkeepers are dealing with so many scumbags every hour that i commend them for protecting their premises & staff. Hence the man with the sweeping brush with detachable brush.

A staff to protect staff.

Indeed.

However, if there were English ran and staffed corner shops in working class pakistan and co.....You can be rest assured that they wouldn't be fearful of scumbags, they would be in fear of their lives and probably bombed out within a month.

Seriously they are on the phone all the time.
White/black people aren’t if you go in a little shop and they are serving.
So who are all the Asians talking to?
