The original Dr. Who used to scare the bejesus out of me and William Hartnell wasn’t very reassuring.
I have a friend who’s convinced the Doctor spent his time battling the Sober Men.

Excellent, I'm nicking that and using a version for my FB status.

I reckon I could feck the feminism out of Dr Who.

Which considering I grew up watching the assistants in some rather fetching mini skirts and the Dr being a rather detached old bloke isn't something I thought I'd ever say.

I watched an old rerun of that a few years ago on challenge because I never understood the format, I was a kid when it was on TV originally. I still don't have a clue what was going on this time around either

The bit where Ted Rogers ends the riddle with whatever the fvck he’s going on about followed by, ‘Yes that’s right, you’re going on a two week break and tour of the west coast of America.’ I doubt anybody apart from the smug pr1ck who wrote the script knew what he was going on about.

The price is right. Great stuff. Really. Guessing the price of tat.
Family Fortunes. Some of the thick cvnt answers. Hilarious.

As we only had one telly I suspect the family might have raised an eyebrow. Hope so anyway.

I don't go near BBC Dramas and comedies these days - pre Thatcher there was more experimental broadcasting, Play for Today, Arena and the comedies had a lot more substance than recent ones. You don't want that creative spirit forced into the margins so I hope the beeb will keep doing that BBC4 stuff, Adam Curtis and Jonathan Meades do some great docs, and Simon Schama's History of Britain was fab in the main (didn't like the modern history ones so much). Something has been lost, I find the presenters on Breakfast and the One Show so smug and beholden to whatever bullsh*t they have to peddle. I haven't got a lot of time for the beeb, very pro monarchy, but I think it is a force for good overall.

The other advantage we have is that all the old programmes are still available.
Modern films are much less interesting than modern television.

Absolutely. There is TV from different decades, providing some idiot didn't have it wiped.

Cinema is struggling to do what TV can't.

Ditto.

On topic, try exercising a bit of discipline. Treat it in an episodic way.

That said - and Im sorry to say this - time has moved on. We have more than 2 1/2 channels now. And technology. Generally. I know, but what can I say?

I accpet I constantly pull my kids' legs, but when I told them we only had 3 channels - one of which was part time - which switched off before midnight to the national anthem (where a sizeable number of the population stood to attention until completed before turning in) they actually thought I was taking the p1ss.

I understand that as inclusivity has killed it, but try and be circumspect in your choice. Generally, if on BBC4 (foreign and thus outside the inclusivity laws that blight the Beeb) or BBC2 it will be of "good" quality. And sometimes BBC1 strikes gold like the Trial of Christine Keeler which is actually quite good.

However, given the crypto-political content of all BBC dramas, I am surprised there is nothing more overt and cutting edge like Play for Today right now. In these turbulent times we are crying out for it. Sadly, if you pitched such an idea, the BBC would readily embrace the concept but they would all be of the ilk of a troupe of black lesbian clog dancers from Cleethorpes fighting prejudice.
