to make up my own analogy, comparing matteo & willo is like comparing neville & shearer. both in football careers & punditry. I would also like to point out that however they gain their knowledge, they both clearly put in a lot of effort.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

A rhetorician so inebriated by the wearying exuberance of his own verbosity surely ought well to apprehend that monomath is the mot juste.

May I commend you on such magniloquence, essaying a tone of immense grandeur.I am reminded of that erudite luminary Leonard Sachs in the "Good Old Days"! Not knowing Mattteo, I couldn't possible term him a Monomath as this describes excellence in a single subject and this of course might do the estimable gentleman a great disservice. 'Yours truly' is certainly not a monomath or polymath, indeed my intellect burns with as much brightness as a standby light on a radio clock alarm.I have no aura of grandiloquence and is one of life's modest trundlers. Hasn't the club stated that they are looking to buy young players this window? In think the transfer strategy of buying players ready for the first team is wrong. We already have a team that is capable of keeping us up comfortably. The average age is pretty high and sell on values are low. We need to follow an approach similar to Leicester. Buy young players, give them exposure as subs (please explain to Roy what they are) so they can build up playing time (like Jairo in the past few weeks of AWB). We can then build a better team or sell them on for a profit and buy better players. Freedman has been getting rid of all our dead wood to free up wages, but we still dont seem to have any funds.

Young is one thing. A 21 year old center forward, in the position most exposed, is another. Club can buy young right back, left back, wingers. But notvcebter forward. And I don't mean an old one should come. But one between 23 and 28 years old, who actualy is a prolific goalscorer, is a necessity. Maja is expensive now because he has just recently signed with Bordeaux, ha s alot of years left on his contract and is annew teen sensation with 6 goals in Ligue 1. His value will go down the closer he gets to the end of his contract and especially as he doesn't keep being the "new next Mbappe at 21 years old". By 23 he should have a more grounded price. Are you Hercule Poirot?

However you and Signor Matteo broker your information (Google, The British Library, the Ka of John Mccririck) you do it so we don't have to. So it's a thank you from me.

In my case one could throw 'Encyclopedia Britannica' into the mix! Finally, I am not quite an "octogenarian" but my dear wife ensures that I carry her heavy shopping! Happy New Year!
