2 appeals makes perfect sense.

clear and obvious forces one ref to criticise another, or pressures a ref to admit a bad error if they try pitch side review.

I'd like offside to be "full daylight". The game would be better with a goal or two more per match, which is all you'd get. Advantage the attacking team a little.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

All the players wear an electronic device between their shoulder blades. The ball is electronic. Use these devices as the point to measure and it is full proof. It will eliminate the need for human intervention. The machine willl beep in the refs ear if a player is offside immediately. No looking at screens etc.
Identical to goal line technology. That hasn’t been questioned at all. Football resisted VAR for years when Blatter was at the helm. Now it is being used gingerly. If we are going to use technology then maximise its abilities. Full proof. Just like in the tennis. Nobody ever questions it.
So for offside do this. For fouls etc, like the Meyer tackle I wouldn’t use it. THats what the ref is for. Even when VAR is used it is just a matter of opinion. That’s why we have a ref.

Why was the Liverpool goal disallowed?
The alleged foul on the keeper that the ref didn't give happened well before the goal was scored.
How far back can they go when checking for infringements?

Dermot Gallagher explained (excused) it this morning by saying it was because de Gea had two hands in the ball when he collided with van Dijk so was deemed to be in control of the ball. He then added it’s the same as if the ball is on the ground and the keeper has one hand in it which was news to me - I thought one hand meant the opposing player could still go for it. Live and learn.

I'm with you on advantage for attacking team.

My suggestion would be if the heel of the furthest forward foot or rear shoulder is level then that is onside. It'd make checks a lot quicker as you're not having to dissalow goals for a toe nail.

I still like VAR in principle and it was always going to be a work in progress. The NFL still votes on rule changes every year and I feel the premier league/ FA need to be more honest with its feedback. I also think overall it will level out big club/ small club decision bias.

Other suggestions I would say is a set limit of how far back in a sequence things are being checked - I'd suggest 4 passes.

Any rules will always create some controversial moments as there will always be some freak examples but in my opinion the areas to address first are rules which will make the speed of decision quicker and eradicate goals being disallowed when a player is 99% level.

I was chatting to a Millwall mate last night his team unfortunately are doing well because he reckons they don't have VAR. He claimed if Millwall were in the PL they would be finding ways to disallow goals to get rid of them asap.

It's funny most fans of small clubs think VAR will benefit them but not Millwall. Anyway here's hoping they stay where they are.

I can think of many suggestions about where VAR should go.

Wenger is suggesting a change to the offside rule.

[Link]

This will give the advantage back to the striker. According to Talksport there is a meeting of the rules committee next week and this has a real change of passing as Wenger is the official FIFA person for this.

In simple terms if your elbow / hand is offside but the rest of you isn't then it's a goal.

It just creates a new measurement that will need to be examined by VAR each time. May mean more goals but probably means even more VAR.

I await the new proposal with interest.
Wider line ? But flagged offside for a nose being marginally over that wider line? And if that player had a shorter nose he would have been onside.

Dont worry too much about it Willo, IfaB have dissmissed any changes in this area at this time. The BBC link that was put up has been edited from 2 stories & merged into 1, coveniently ommiting the bit about IfaB not following thru with concrete change.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

As I have said before the fact that new technology was brought in without first rewriting any of the rules to comply with it is ludicrous.
