It wasn't the last film I saw but we watched Avatar there and it was absolutely stunning on the giant screen

You can always go to Merry Hill. I took my son to see the last Spiderman film. It was rubbish. Enjoyed Venom with him before that. Saw all the new Star Wars - Rogue One possibly the best albeit with pretty poor effects.

I believe the last film I endured was 'Gandhi'. Dragged kicking and screaming to see it by my current wife in those halcyon days when we were 'Courting'.It seemed to go on for an eternity.

One will deduce from this that I have no interest whatsoever in films.

Happy days. Remember the Talking Camel (think he posts on here under an alias) and Heckle and Jeckle cartoons,
Anyone remember the cartoon cinema at Victoria?

Not a regular cinema goer buy I've seen about 4-5 films this year and the theatres have been packed for all of them. Definitely not dying out any time soon. The ticket prices generally are reasonable but the food prices are absurd though, I usually sneak in some pick and Mix and just buy a drink.

The answer to the question was Spiderman btw

Saw a program the other day investigating cinema prices.
It was concluded that the actual cinema doesn't make an awful lot from the price of the ticket due to the amount they have to give the distributor for the right to screen.
They freely admitted that the food/drinks prices were high but claimed that was where they made their only profit.
They also said they couldn't do anything about you bringing in food/drinks as long as the food isn't hot or the drinks alcoholic.

You aren't the first to mention the food or the food prices. I can honestly say that I have NEVER eaten food in a cinema. I seem to be unique in being able to sit still for two hours concentrating on a piece of entertainment without the need to stuff my face.

When I went to see Apollo II (see earlier post) the fattest Grandad, Dad and son sat a couple of rows in front of me. They scoffed the largest quantity of crisps, popcorn and cola that it's possible to imagine. Then, when the movie STARTED, the dad left his seat to troop off to the foyer to get more supplies in. Madness!

It’s a similar story at music or comedy shows where most of the audience seem incapable of lasting 10 minutes without a plastic glass of warm lager. Ironically they’re probably the same people who go to pubs to eat rather than drink.
