Where do think it went wrong?

Apparently they got the 200 millions together near the end but some kind of government guarantee was required.

Wondering how much this is all actually costing, could it be more than the 200 millions?

Man City and PSG are now bigger ‘brands’ and household names than Thomas Cook.

They've really stitched up their staff as well, doing this the week before payday, which means everyone got to work for their last month for nothing.

I can't say it surprises me. A kick in the teeth for them.

Got back from a TC holiday last week, fortunately. A woman I know was due to go away with them on Wednesday, to Ibiza. Luckily her holiday was ATOL protected, but by the time she gets her money back, the season will be finished

It makes a change for someone to be on the right side of this kind of thing!

Unsustainable outdated business model.

Real shame for everyone effected though.

I was saying the same to a mate earlier. With the exception of pensioners, more and more people just find flight and hotel deals online and get the best prices that way. It's a Blockbuster video situation. Out with the old, in with the new.

Reminds me of that courier firm that closed down days before Christmas. Loads of drivers unpaid, a lot that we’re through third parties where the staff invoices are paid in large chunks so lots of money unpaid.

Exactly, they know that workers are a long way down the payment chain and so are effectively working for nothing, but don't have two s*** about its.

The Transport Secretary was on the radio this morning claiming that it would cost HMG much less than that figure.

Anyway if the Government did bail it out where would it end as the tax payer would then have to bail out every lame duck company

I'm a pensioner and I've never been on a 'package holiday' and I never will. I can't stand the unimaginative concept of spending my holiday surrounded by a mass of unimaginative people ie the British abroad.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Yes there is something distinctly unimaginative about the concept. And it's a sure fire way to visit a country without actually experiencing it at all.
